Some people use revenue from their blog to help keep them being a stay at home mom/dad, some use ads to help pay for domain/hosting costs.... I think everyone who runs or does not run ads do it for very different reasons.  It's a very personal choice either way. : )

When my blog with 1,000 hits a month raked in a whopping $0.03 on the first day from Google Adsense... I took Adsense off of my site immediately. A mere $11 a year isn't worth the ugly ad clutter on my site. I'm with you - I don't like the look of an ad-laden blog... just a personal preference of mine.

I've had better luck doing sponsored posts via SocialSpark. I've only done 2 posts, but at $15 per post, it's a MUCH more effective way to make a few quick bucks. Plus, I write my own posts, so can still make sure it fits the style of my blog. This way, I can keep my blog clean.
