A Mom Blog Social Network
I know I could look up the pros and cons to this topic on Google, but I wanted to ask Bloggy Mom members their opinion.
Any tips? Ideas?
Thanks!
Permalink Reply by Tiffany Noth on August 19, 2011 at 8:58am I have always used Blogger... I've looked at Wordpress and never found a reason to switch. I also do a lot of my own coding though. I think that's the biggest reason to switch to Wordpress... if you don't know how to write or use any code.
The "you'll have better rankings" argument has never flown with me. That isn't inherent from switching to Wordpress in my opinion.
I think it comes down to preference, which ever platform you are most comfortable in using... as with most all services and products.
Permalink Reply by Teresa Krueger on August 19, 2011 at 4:30pm I agree with Tiffany. I actually made the switch from Blogger to Wordpress and have not seen any increase in my rankings. That being said, I do like WP better. I feel like it is a lot less glitchy than Blogger ever was. I should note that I am self hosted, I don't know if that makes a difference or not. Its true, I have had to learn a bit more about html, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. It does feel a lot more flexible to me, but I also know that blogger has made a lot of changes since I moved so I don't know if that is really something to consider.
I hope that helps a little bit.
Thanks Ladies! I haven't had any problems with Blogger, but when I looked at Wordpress I had no idea where to start. I do have my own host account available, as well as my own domain name, just haven't set that up with Blogger yet.
@Teresa Would I be able to import my Blogger posts into Wordpress or would I have to start from scratch?

Permalink Reply by Mama and the City on August 22, 2011 at 3:10am I have my blog hosted in blogger -in fact, two. And I also have another one in WP.com.
First, blogger has changed a lot - as Theresa mentioned - in the last few years. It has more widgets available - FOR FREE - and it seems very user friendly in my opinion.
WP, still looks very raw to me. It reminds me a little bit of using Word Vs WordPad. Can't really explain it, but it's not just the feeling of working with it, it is also the look for me. Just don't feel good using it. Doesn't inspire me to write. LOL.
I use it, just to keep up with the changes, but it is not my main blog. In my opinion, Blogger is good for the entry-level and light-medium blogger.
Now, I've also heard somewhere -but did not really care too much - that Blogger is the owner of the content of your blog. I dunno about that.

I am blogging for more than a year now, I started my blog over blogspot.com but soon I saw some awesome WordPress blogs and decided to move my blog to WordPress. (MarketingCurry)
But migration was a challenge for me, I was afraid in the beginning to loose current content, posts and comments but then I got a Do It YourSelf Tutorial it has very well explained the migration process. All the posts, comments, RSS Feed subscribers and Google Friends were migrated. :)
There is a FREE Technical support forum as well, so we can ask any migration related query here http://bloggertowp.org/forums/
Those who want to get few good reasons for Migration to WordPress please refer: http://bloggertowp.org/15-reasons-to-migrate-from-blogger-to-wordpr...
Hope it helps to fellow bloggers.
Cheers!
Josh
