A Mom Blog Social Network
Hello Ladies~~
I am wondering if your friends in the real world--old, new, playgroups, work, etc--follow or even read your blog.
Few of my friends read much or follow blogs and I don't want to be pushy and constantly ask them to drop by. They don't know how to "follow" or they just don't care enough to. I do link my posts to my facebook account, but I am getting the feeling that people are getting tired of seeing the links. Some do come over and read, but I wish they would just follow me so I could seperate my blog from me more.
Do you flat out ASK your friends to follow you? Do most of your friends read your blog?
Tell me--I'm curious.
Cheers.

I have been blogging since January and I have only told one friend who lives in a different city to me. The rest were family. Without telling them, I have built up (what I think to be) a huge following. Now I feel like I should tell my friends about it...but am a bit hesitant. A lot of stuff I blog about is personal, so I am not sure if I want people I know to read about it.
Of the family members I told, not everyone follows. I have learnt to just let it go. I don't want to force people to read my blog. I would like people to follow just because they want to.
The day I DO tell my friends about my blog would be quite nervewracking for me. I keep coming close, but maybe I am scared that they won't like what I have to say.
Good Luck
Permalink Reply by Suzanne on May 23, 2011 at 9:52am I started blogging back in February 2010, but didn't really pick up speed until this past February. I promote my blog on Facebook all the time, yet I still only have a few friends actually following me. My mom is probably my best follower! I would like them all to follow me, but I know I can't force anyone, and it just goes to show that some people just can't be bothered to do a simple thing like click and and type for about a minute just to show me some support and maybe even comment once in a while. I'm not mad, but I'll just keep it all in mind if they ask me to do the same in the future.
I've never directly emailed or asked anyone verbally to follow me, as I didn't want to seem pushy either. Maybe I should???
Good luck, ladies!
Ah, Jessica, your story sounds like my own. I blogged totally anonymously and inconsistently for 2 years. Now that I'm up and going at full speed I wanted to spread the word amongst friends who I thought would appreciate it. I started linking to my facebook account. Some friends love it and always read & comment. Others are getting irritated. I'm going to stop, but I feel weird telling people that they "have" to follow me or they won't have anymore linky access.
I don't want to be pushy either. And yes, my Mom is my biggest fan too.
Cheers,
VB
Permalink Reply by Monnie on September 19, 2011 at 1:17am I don't have any friends following my blog (well I don't think I do). I actually do have a couple who continually ask what my blog is called so they can have a look. But I don't want them to. I actually really like having a secret blog. I did a post on my blog actually about my secret life as a blogger. I love being able to post about whatever I like without knowing I will be the talk of the school car park when I go to pick my son up from school, LOL.
The thing is, if they really wanted to find it, I know they could. When I was picking the name for my blog I talked about it with a couple of friends and they both picked the name I chose from the list I had created. So if they think back, they will know the name. Maybe they actually do follow me and just ask me so that I don't realise they follow me, LOL. I really wouldn't know but they don't subscribe by email on feedburner so I don't think they do.
