Does anyone else get tired of not getting comments?

It gets frustrating sometimes. You write and write and post and post and hardly get any comments, what gives. How can you build up your comment love? I'm curious. I get numbers, I have pretty decent stats, considering...but people just don't comment much - maybe I'm boring or my posts are dumb (you know that old saying, nothing nice to say, don't say anything...) maybe that holds true for my blog too. I don't know. It's just frustrating when you see others who have 20 or more comments and I barely get 2.

I can't spend all day long commenting on blogs, especially when it still doesn't work to boost mine, know what I mean?

Just wanted to see if there was anyone else out there in the same boat as me.....

I too enjoy comments on my blog, but I wasn't a big comment writer before I had a blog. i posted some things I think encourage comments. (or at least what used to tempt me into posting a comment) Let me know if you have any other ideas or think these tips are useful :)

I have to agree, it can be rather frustrating to only get a few comments. I know that for myself, I enjoy reading blog posts more than I do commenting on them. I think for me, it has to do with being shy and afraid that I may sound silly in my comment! Not sure why, i'm sure I sound silly in my blogposts too! He! He!

I agree 100%, if a blogger goes to the trouble of writing or posting, it would seem good manners to leave a comment. I do, most always, expecially for my favorite blogs. I do think I know why many don't though. I read alot of my blogs now from google reader. From there you can't leave a comment. That could be part of the problem. The information highway has a lot of alleys to travel, so unless I take the time to open the post, I can't leave a comment. But hey!!!! Take the time.

My blog site seems to go through highs and lows - some posts get comments and others don't. Why do some posts elicit responses and others go unnoticed. I spend a lot of time visiting other blog sites as well and I ALWAYS leave a comment. As well, whenever anyone leaves a comment on mine, I ALWAYS visit their blog site immediately and post a comment. Isn't that just good manners?

Yep! It really makes you think no one is reading your blog! I often check my blogs stats to make sure I'm getting traffic, and traffic that stays/browses.

I just found a new plugin to reward commenters by allowing them to link their twitter accounts to their comments....

are you kidding me!? you have over 400 followers! How can you not get one measly comment? I say, you should find much better followers for your blog.

Most of the followers are from blog hops (which stand for - follow me, I'll follow you - and I'll never visit your blog again). Those things are all about the numbers. Part of me likes doing them, because it's a neat way of finding new blogs to read. But part of me can't stand them, because people just follow you for the follow back...know what I mean. It doesn't feel like they are following you because of merit, like you have a great blog and they like it...it's just a number to them.

But, I know what you mean - 400 plus followers and an average of 3 or 4 comments per post...What gives? My blog must suck or something LOL!
