A Mom Blog Social Network
Hi, I'm Tracie. In October 2010, at 284 lbs, 5"7, I underwent a bilio-pancreatic diversion with Duodenal Switch (the Duodenal Switch, or just DS) at Lenox Hill Hospital in NYC. It's a serious procedure, and not without it's unique risks, like frequent bouts with protein malnutrition. I talk a lot about that on my blog at www.blackberrymama.com.
I wore beautiful Lane Bryant diva wear in size 24. Now, I've been a size 0 since the beginning of the year. The most weight I've gained after the surgery was 10 pounds, always lost by the end of the month. It's such a large part of my life. I'm not a crusader or anything, but I'm open to discussing it. Since losing the weight, I've seen such a major improvement in the type of parent I am, I'm more active and more interested in the way we eat as a family. Total win on that.
But, like I said. There are unique risks and challenges w/ each obesity surgery...
So, have you? Would you?
