A Mom Blog Social Network
I am sure everyone could benefit by hearing about the most effective and efficient ways to promote ones blog.
Engage via social media.

Interact with others directly via Twitter, Facebook, Bloggy Moms, etc...
Permalink Reply by Brittany Morazan on June 26, 2012 at 12:23am I would network and comment on other blogs in my niche and try to participate in blog hops
Permalink Reply by Raquel on June 26, 2012 at 12:31am Comment on other blogs as I love reading other blog posts (be hard to limit this to 1 hour though) and social media or sending out emails to connect with others.
Permalink Reply by Jesi Steiber on June 26, 2012 at 10:55pm I actually heard Thomas Umstattd talk about this over the weekend at a writers conference. He talked about building your platform (see Michael Hyatt's Platform book). It's important to manage our time wisely while not spamming our readers with too many tweets or FB posts. But it is important that we schedule them and many of the well known bloggers and writers spend a little time in the morning scheduling tweets & posts to refer back to their blog. The key is to have good content for the reader, as well as to serve the reader (not self promote). So you are providing a service to them, such as giving them information your audience needs or wants to read. Do you know who your audience is? Remember to be unique and that means you won't appeal to everyone. So focus on those you will appeal to and communicate with them in ways they will be drawn to you.
Permalink Reply by Susie on June 29, 2012 at 1:04am Great info! I am horrible at Twitter. I do have an automatic tweet when I post, but I seriously neglect the whole twitter thing. As far as Facebook goes, I just learned to schedule posts.
I see others getting a ton of facebook likes... like 100 per week. I sure wish I knew how they do that!!!
I so appreciate the responses.
I was wondering if it would be OK if I use of some of these responses in a blog post? I would not use them exactly as posted, but just the ideas.
That wasn't my original intent when I posted the discussion, but the idea for a new blog came to me last night (The Successful Blogger) and I thought this would make a good post for it.
Permalink Reply by Susie on June 29, 2012 at 1:02am You can use mine. :-)
I think a blog post is a great idea!
Permalink Reply by Susie on June 29, 2012 at 1:01am I agree with what the others have said.
I like to visit other blogs and leave comments. I also like to participate in Link Parties. I think they are a great way to network (and build a foundation with) with blogs you already follow as well as discover new blogs that you can network with.
I even started hosting my own link party. (Stop by and link up, if you like: http://earning-my-cape.blogspot.com/2012/06/super-link-party-7.html)
Shameless promotion, I know! I'm sorry! I truly don't mean for it to be. I just really love link parties!
I'm about to do it again... Oops! I have a link party that is specifically set up to link your link party to, so that those who are looking to participate in parties can go there to find some that they like.

Seriously, though, I find them a great way to network and increase visits because they are so fun! It's like a mini pinterest on your blog! :-)
Permalink Reply by Tera Bare on June 29, 2012 at 5:37pm That's a tough one. I'd make sure my posts are on my Facebook page, share my posts on Stumble Upon, Digg It, Bloggy Moms, etc. But, I'm sure there are more things to do :) I'd love to hear some more suggestions!
Permalink Reply by Lindsey Whitney on July 3, 2012 at 7:26pm I think Blog Hops is a great idea and try to connect with a reader in a meaningful way. If you get an email, take time to really answer it, digging for more ways you can help them. I recently read, "Never Eat Alone" and it's all about taking the first step to help someone else. After all, there's nothing like supporting a friend and helping is a great way to make friends!

Hi Lindsey,
I really like your response. I started my blog in the Titus 2 (I hope that is the correct reference) spirit of things, as I have found most of our culture doesn't know what simple living really is. But I found myself getting caught up in trying to get numbers of people to my blog and trying to figure out how to monetize my blog.
I would like to find a way to help support our family with blogging and writing, but w/o compromising my desire to be a real help to people.
I think I am going to start a new thread with that thought, since I am a little off topic now:-)
