A Mom Blog Social Network
We're up in arms about this seeming to be a promotion site... so, we should endeavor to make it a more supportive, social site... right?
What do you do with your kids for fun?
How do you relax?
How do you keep your kids busy?
I take mine to the Science Center. I'm blessed to have free museums here in the St. Louis area. Art Museum, History Museum, Science Center, Zoo...

I cook and clean. LOL :)
Permalink Reply by Megan Brown on June 22, 2012 at 5:50pm Oh Amy...Thanks! I have been trying to figure out how to engage on the site! Seems like lots of people just post and push their content but don't communicate--maybe we can change that!
I love everyone's answers...I have one little girl who is 16 months old...so she is just getting to the point where she is super engaged and excited to be going somewhere new! This week we tried the Central Park Zoo and it was a huge hit! But I would LOVE suggestions on what things you can "do" with a little one.
I like to read to relax...but that doesn't seem to happen very often these days!

It's been a while since I've had a wee one, mine are 15 and nearly 6. We used to go on nature walks with them (even just around the neighborhood) and let them pick up rocks, sticks, look at grass and clover, etc...They learned really quickly not to stick things in their mouths. LOL And whatever dirt they swallowed didn't hurt them.
We also started ABC's and numbers with magnets and those foam things for the walls of the tub. What else.... When they got really annoying we'd put them into the dog kennel...
I KID, I KID!!!
The baby einstein movies always fascinated my youngest, and my neighbor's kiddo too. Get them in a somewhat dark room and put that on, it was like they were hypnotized for a little bit. I do not feel bad about letting TV help you out sometimes. There are days when it's the only half hour or hour you get to calm down.
You may even get to read.
There are great craft books and ideas for toddlers out there, if that's your thing.
Permalink Reply by Megan Brown on June 22, 2012 at 7:54pm LOLOLO!!! She loves to walk so maybe we will do a nature hike tomorrow...today it was 100 in NJ...ugh.
Haven't tried the baby einstein yet, so I am all over it! I just launched a business from home so any down time I can get I never feel bad about!
Thanks a bunch Amy, I have definitely been feeling a little lost and overwhelmed. :)
P.S. I LOVE St. Louis...one of my Besties lives there...awesome town!
Permalink Reply by Amy Bliss on June 22, 2012 at 11:00pm You're so welcome! Just check them out at the library.
I'm glad you love it here! Where does she/he live?
Permalink Reply by Tiffany Noth on June 28, 2012 at 6:27pm Do you think she is still too young yet to table "paint" with shaving cream or even whipped topping?
You can spray/place it directly on the table for them to draw faces into. If you use whipped topping, them eating it isn't a problem!
That was always a big hit in our house on a rainy/cold day or even on the outside patio table.
Permalink Reply by McKinney Mommas on June 22, 2012 at 10:24pm I took mine to the Dallas Nasher Sculpture Museum a few weekends ago! She's only 16 months, but Target is running this fantastic partnership with the museum to host FREE admission, art projects, scavenger hunts and the like - called First Saturdays by Target. It was awesome and we loved our time there!
Permalink Reply by Amy Bliss on June 22, 2012 at 10:59pm That is awesome!!
I'd completely forgotten about Laumeier Sculpture Park here. Thank you for jogging my memory.
What kind of sculptures? Are they outdoors too? Our sculpture park is completely outdoors and some are hidden along the hiking trails there.
Permalink Reply by Tiffany Noth on June 30, 2012 at 8:00am Target use to (maybe they still do) do a Target Tuesdays at the Children's Museum in Indy - so much fun and so many things to do there with the kids. What a neat thing that Target is providing!
What do you do with your kids for fun?
Movie nights, library visits, game nights, swimming
How do you relax?
reading and watching movies/tv
How do you keep your kids busy?
They keep pretty busy on their own but over the summer I have challenged them to read more while they are out of school.
Permalink Reply by Lindsey Whitney on July 3, 2012 at 6:47pm I was in St. Louis last fall visiting a friend and the park there next to the zoo was so wonderful! Here in Erie, PA we've got Presque Isle and some other great (free) natural areas. I've got a staycation idea link up for those looking for more ideas! http://tiny.cc/zw6vgw
Permalink Reply by Jennifer Eckert on July 7, 2012 at 3:51pm I'm the mother of a 5 week old baby girl, so there isn't much she is able to do yet, but we still take little trips out of the house for some fresh air. lol! :) She absolutely loves to go for a ride in her stroller and she likes it when her daddy makes funny noises and faces at her.
I'm actually looking forward to when she is strong enough to hold her head up, sit up, and be a little more mobile. I know once she starts crawling and eventually walking, getting into everything, I'll long for her newborn days. lol!
