A Mom Blog Social Network
My children have always eaten cereal, mostly the low sugar kind and some fiber. I was just wondering if they are normal. I have friends that make eggs and pancakes for their kids every morning, where do they find time before school?
What do your kids eat?

Since I love breakfast foods so much, I started cooking it ahead of time, and I actually just got done fixing sausage cheese balls for tomorrow morning. Favorite Freezer Meals has a breakfast recipe for sausage quiches you can make the night before, and pop in the microwave in the AM before school. I will also be posting the Extra Cheesy Sausage Balls soon:) As for cereal in the AM, it's perfectly fine!

Permalink Reply by Jen Marie Afflerbaugh on December 28, 2012 at 12:41pm My kids usually eat cereal. It's pretty much the only thing they all like and will eat. Sometimes they'll have toast and fruit but that's usually only when we've ran out of cereal. We try to do a weekend french toast, pancake or waffle breakfast at least twice a month for a special treat. My kids are too picky for me to cook them a big, healthy breakfast. It would take me all day just to make the four of them each something they like. LOL

The kids also enjoyed scrambled eggs or Eggs in a Nest. For Eggs in a Nest you cut the center out of a piece of bread with a round cookie cutter. Put some butter on the bread and place it in the frying pan and then put an egg in the hole in the center of the bread and let them cook.

Permalink Reply by Mama (Karen) Carmody on December 31, 2012 at 9:37pm I sure will. I have a section with a few recipes on my blog. I can add this one with some pictures. I probably won't get time until this weekend but I will get to work on it for you. My grown niece recently mentioned the memory of having Eggs in a Nest when she would come to visit. She wants me to make it for her son sometime. So fun to pass things on to the next generation.

We have had a rough weekend. The engine blew up in one of our cars so we have spent the weekend trying to get rid of the broken one and find a new one in our price range. Thanks so the Lord, we found a new car. Anyway, I haven't forgotten about posting the Eggs in a Nest recipe and pictures. I am still planning on getting that done.
Permalink Reply by Vicky Willenberg on January 19, 2013 at 1:42am Amen sista! I love that you are honest about life! Here's the thing: in the end, we are all just doing what we can to get ourselves out the door and keep everyone alive. So they eat what they eat when they eat it. I do my best with plenty of meals but some are just real life. And real life means I don't want to fight, cajole or trick at 7 a.m. I just want to get out the door without their final thought being, "Mom is insane!" We all do what we do to keep our heads above water. Own it!
