Hi Alexa,

Facebook does not count the like from business pages because the "fan counter" (it used to be fans and not likes) was not intended to be created for business alliances. You can like from either one, but only organic likes (the ones from people and not companies) will make the number increase. It makes swapping likes from business to business useless, unless you'd like to show to your fans pages you like/recommend. I do it from both (especially if someone "liked" me from both).

If you like from your personal page and your profile page settings are private or whatever, it's not going to change that. The owner of that business page you "liked" is not going to suddenly see what's on your profile page. Your private page only becomes viewable if you accept an individual as a friend. So you won't have to worry about that if that was a concern. Hope this helps!
