I was going to host my own Giveaways, since I've never participated before....but now I'm wondering about getting Sponsors.  Any ideas on where to start?

I was going to host my own Giveaways....I'm doing two at $100 each, but saw all of the support the other participants were getting from sponsors, and decided to try my luck.

I sent off 9 PR letters to companies today....and already have 4 commitments for sponsorship of one or more items!! I'm so very excited! They love the fact that they will be getting "free" advertising in exchange for one or two of their products.
Tree - all of my sponsors (except for one that Gina sent to me) have come from Etsy and Artfire so far. I have had pretty good luck with both of them and I'm happy with that - since I'm super new to all of this stuff!
Good luck!
Most of mine are also Etsy shops....I love their stuff, and they've been great to work with so far. I do have a couple regular sites that I got to sponsor me, but I'm excited to be up to 11 sponsors now! I wasn't going to do any at first....just use my Avon for the giveaways. Congrats on all your sponsors!
How is the sponsor search going, Tree? I have four so far, but have sent 61 PR letters to get that far. My husband thinks I went after to many big name sponsors and should have stuck with small home-based companies. I do have a couple, but was hoping for some "big name" excitement to drive the traffic. Also, I just sent the PR letters on the Friday before the Fourth of July weekend. Not sure how long is reasonable to wait, before assuming they're not interested. I sure would appreciate some feedback from veterans. Maybe I'll make this same post on the Blogmania forum.
Wow, 11! That's awesome!

Good for you! That's a good number! Yep...still at 11. LOL I don't remember how many I sent out in total.....about 30, I think. And I did mostly Etsy shops, because I figured they would like the advertising, and they have some really great products for my themes. Only got a couple "bigger" named sponsors. I would've hit up CSNStores, but I'm currently doing a Giveaway on one of my blogs...and didn't think they would participate. :)

For me - the pressure was just to get my giveaway value up to $100. I was sending out e-mails like crazy being all nervous to make sure I could get enough people - since I'm such a new blog. But after that - I've just sent a few out each week and now have 3 prize packs valued at about $100 each. So I'm comfortable with that. I'm no where near competing with some of the folks that have 8 or 900 dollars worth of prizes but I think people are going to visit us too - no matter what. I'm sure there will be people that hit up ALL of the blogs no matter what the prize.
I definitely have had the most luck with Artfire and Etsy but another suggestion is to look at other blogs to see people that are participating in their giveaways. I have found 2 or 3 sponsors that way. I mean - its worth the try anyway - right? :)
Hope my input helps a little!
Great ideas, Jacque! I've also slowed down on my pursuit for sponsors. Right now, I have 2 prize packs worth over $200 each, and I'm fine with that as well. I'm sure, like you said, people will visit regardless....it's a giveaway after all. LOL

It does help and I appreciate it. I have definitely been checking out other giveaways for sponsor ideas. Looking forward to September, I realize I still have SOME time, so I am staying hopeful. I have $300 worth, but would like to have something that is a BIG draw. - lol - That's a lot to hope for with a small blog only 9 months old, but I keep hoping. : )

I've sent out maybe 20 just before the holiday and I've only received 2 notices back...Both no. :( One doesn't want their product in a bundle of others and the other said my blog was too small. I just started this blog a few weeks ago and I'm thinking that's why I haven't heard back.

I have about 138 followers and 188 subscribers as of right now, just checked LOL. My other blog (original) I have only 2 sponsors as a yes for Blog Fest... There its over 400 followers and almost 500 subscribers.

WHo should I go after? WHos easy? Im not concerned too much about blogfest since Ive gotten the 2 and theres no price setting, but Blogmania I need!! I havent tried Etsy. Maybe Ill give that a go.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't go after the "big name" sponsors. There are SO many trying to get their attention, and yes...they are going to go for the larger blogs to get more exposure for their products. I LOVE Etsy sites... there are some BEAUTIFUL handmade items there...alot of talent waiting to be seen. Many are either just starting out, have a small number of sales, or just appreciate the fact of having their name put out there.

I would definitely do a search for your theme on Etsy...you will probably have better results. I've gotten 12 confirmed sponsors out of 19 so far....and about 10 are just from Etsy. :) Good luck!

Didn't I read somewhere that while they would like prize packages to be around $100, the minimum is $50? I'm not lumping all of mine together and some will be in the $50 range. I don't know that I would even mention that possibility to a potential sponsor. I am listing all the prizes on my blog individually during the promo. When I draw at random.org, I will just let each sponsor know to whom they should ship the prize they are donating, even if the same person is receiving several prizes as a "package". I probably won't "bundle" the prizes on the site until the final Giveaway Page on September 15th.
