Writer's Workshop Weekly Writing Prompt and Link up (1-17-12)

Wow those were some fantastic links last week! Did you miss it? No worries. There are new prompts every week to choose from.

Whether you choose fiction, memoir, blogging, non-fiction, or creative non-fiction, the prompt is for you to write whatever you are inspired to write. That's the purpose of the prompt. I am always open to prompt suggestions, so feel free to send them to me!!

Ok, so let's get the ball rolling here. You will have until 11:59 pm on Saturday to write to the prompt and link up your work. A new prompt and a new linkup will go up the following Monday.

Without further ado, this week's prompt is:

Choose your favorite fairy tale, only cast yourself as the main character. Now rewrite the story.

(I realize this a prompt better suited for fiction, but from a non-fiction standpoint, you could tell us about that fairy tale moment you've experienced or still dreaming of, etc.)

Focus on the words you use and cut out the ones that really aren't needed. Does it further your story along, or will the story stay the same if you cut it out? These are a couple of questions you can ask yourself when you read back through what you wrote to help tighten it up.
