Working Out with the Lazy Girl Squats (aka Condense Your Workout and Still Prevent a Saggy Rear)

Posted on July 28, 2014 at 9:02pm 0 Comments

The other day, I was talking with my friend Rachel about working out – she is a workout queen and always has great tips for how to get a workout done faster or how to really motivate yourself through a great run. My favorite recommendation that she ever gave me (before what I’m going to detail in a minute) was the Zombie Running App. Basically, the app has you start your favorite workout…

Blogging Better: What To Do When You Have Writer’s Block

Posted on July 27, 2014 at 10:06pm 0 Comments

As I delve further and further into the world of freelance writing as part of my career, I find myself encountering something that many writers dread: writer’s block. And it’s honestly one of the most frustrating pieces of my job. Because some days, the creativity just flows, and I feel like I could write fifteen articles in a row, no problem. And then I have days where I really have to push myself to get just one or two pieces done.

I’ve never noticed anything to really…

WAHM: 5 Tips to Keep the Kids Occupied While You're Working

Posted on July 25, 2014 at 5:26pm 0 Comments

So my child, my cheeky little 22 month old, has somehow become smarter than I could have ever possibly imagined as an under-two-year-old. I’m not really sure if that’s just because I had no idea what to expect, or if he’s just incredibly brilliant. But I’m going with the latter because…duh, I’m his mom. And don’t all moms think their kid is basically the smartest thing since sliced bread?

Anyway, the kid is brilliant, I swear.

By 15 months, he figured out how to take apart our…

Since we lost our baby, I’ve become a better mom.

Posted on July 24, 2014 at 9:52pm 0 Comments

I realized something the other day. And it’s not something that made me feel like the most incredible person on the planet, to say the least.

Since we lost Addison, I’ve become a better mom.

Breathe that in for a second. It kind of hurts your heart, doesn’t it? At least, it hurts mine.

Don’t get me wrong – I was a great mom to Ricky before any of this happened. And I can honestly say that without getting a big head, despite how it sounds. But when we lost our baby girl,…

We Keep Moving.

Last night I had a mini breakdown. And what triggered it made me feel so guilty. I saw all of these beautiful pregnant mamas all over my Facebook feed. And that’s when it hit me: I should be 36 weeks pregnant. I should be glowing and happy and getting ready to deliver my baby in just a few short weeks via c-section.August 19th. That’s when it was scheduled for...Continue reading at The Mommyhood ProjectSee More

New Faces at The Mommyhood Project

So remember a couple of weeks ago I said that there are going to be some exciting things going on around here? Ok, maybe I didn’t quite say it like that…but it was implied, right?Well, in the spirit of moving forward with life, I’ve been looking at everything that I do now, figuring out what I actually love to do and doing more of it. Part of that is being around these parts (aka The…See More

Three Things You MUST Do Now if You Want to Own a Successful Blog in a Year

I get emails at least once a week from people asking how they can build a successful blog. So let’s just be honest here for a second – and talk about the stuff that a lot of bloggers don’t want to hear – all of the things that take a lot of work if you really want to make your blog successful. And just to clarify, when we’re talking successful, I’m referring to the type of site that both reaches a lot of people in a positive way AND produces money. Now, I’m going to preface this by saying that…See More

Do More of What Makes You Happy

I was talking with a friend the other day and she made this comment about how quickly our life – mine and Rick’s – has evolved and changed over the past few years. Which is absolutely one hundred percent true. But if we’re really being honest, this is just how our life kind of works. When Rick and I met, we both immediately knew that we were meant to be together. I know that sounds corny – but it’s really how our relationship played out. We were madly in love and spent every free moment of time…See More

The Elephant in the Room: Having Another Baby

Once we got over the shock of losing Addison, there was one question that just hammered over and over in my head: what does this mean for the future of our family?I think initially, I couldn’t imagine the idea of not being pregnant right now. I mean, everything was (obviously) so unexpected, and it was all planned out in my head, and I just couldn’t wrap my head around not having a beautiful baby girl in August.Slowly – which is a relative term, because the time after stillbirth moves so slowly…See More

Things I Love: Lucy Activewear

Several weeks ago – like right when we got home from the hospital – Lucy Activewear emailed me to see if I wanted to try out some of their new yoga capris and tanks. Knowing that I needed to start working on my fitness again – and also knowing that I love Lucy to death – I happily said yes. And boy oh boy am I glad that I did. They sent me some super cute …See More

Prepping for the 4th of July

Happy July friends! This is one of my favorite weeks of the year. Because I LOVE the Fourth of July. Basically, it’s on the same playing field as Christmas morning. Every year, we go to a family friend’s house to play at the lake. It’s a great time. Plus, it’s warm outside – 80s and sunny is about as perfect a day as we can ask for after such a frigid and brutal winter.Oh, and one other thing: the festive decor, food, drinks…you name it. A good day with good people. These are the days that I…See More
