#ShopCartons to Save Trees This Month (aka Get a Tree Planted Just for Tweeting!)

Posted on July 22, 2014 at 10:01pm 0 Comments

ChooseCartons contacted me a couple of weeks ago to share an initiative that they’re running during the month of July to help raise awareness about recycling and food packaging – while planting trees at the same time. Being a household that’s pretty good about recycling (we try our best!) and choosing the eco-friendly option, it seemed like a pretty cool campaign to participate in.

Please note that I was compensated for participating in this campaign. They also planted a tree for me.…

Last night I had a mini breakdown. And what triggered it made me feel so guilty. I saw all of these beautiful pregnant mamas all over my Facebook feed. And that’s when it hit me: I should be 36 weeks pregnant. I should be glowing and happy and getting ready to deliver my baby in just a few short weeks via c-section.

August 19th. That’s when it was scheduled for...Continue reading at The Mommyhood Project

So remember a couple of weeks ago I said that there are going to be some exciting things going on around here? Ok, maybe I didn’t quite say it like that…but it was implied, right?

Well, in the spirit of moving forward with life, I’ve been looking at everything that I do now, figuring out what I actually love to do and doing more of it. Part of that is being around these parts…

Three Things You MUST Do Now if You Want to Own a Successful Blog in a Year

I get emails at least once a week from people asking how they can build a successful blog. So let’s just be honest here for a second – and talk about the stuff that a lot of bloggers don’t want to hear – all of the things that take a lot of work if you really want to make your blog successful. And just to clarify, when we’re talking successful, I’m referring to the type of site that both reaches a lot of people in a positive way AND produces money. Now, I’m going to preface this by saying that…See More

Do More of What Makes You Happy

I was talking with a friend the other day and she made this comment about how quickly our life – mine and Rick’s – has evolved and changed over the past few years. Which is absolutely one hundred percent true. But if we’re really being honest, this is just how our life kind of works. When Rick and I met, we both immediately knew that we were meant to be together. I know that sounds corny – but it’s really how our relationship played out. We were madly in love and spent every free moment of time…See More

The Elephant in the Room: Having Another Baby

Once we got over the shock of losing Addison, there was one question that just hammered over and over in my head: what does this mean for the future of our family?I think initially, I couldn’t imagine the idea of not being pregnant right now. I mean, everything was (obviously) so unexpected, and it was all planned out in my head, and I just couldn’t wrap my head around not having a beautiful baby girl in August.Slowly – which is a relative term, because the time after stillbirth moves so slowly…See More

Things I Love: Lucy Activewear

Several weeks ago – like right when we got home from the hospital – Lucy Activewear emailed me to see if I wanted to try out some of their new yoga capris and tanks. Knowing that I needed to start working on my fitness again – and also knowing that I love Lucy to death – I happily said yes. And boy oh boy am I glad that I did. They sent me some super cute …See More

Prepping for the 4th of July

Happy July friends! This is one of my favorite weeks of the year. Because I LOVE the Fourth of July. Basically, it’s on the same playing field as Christmas morning. Every year, we go to a family friend’s house to play at the lake. It’s a great time. Plus, it’s warm outside – 80s and sunny is about as perfect a day as we can ask for after such a frigid and brutal winter.Oh, and one other thing: the festive decor, food, drinks…you name it. A good day with good people. These are the days that I…See More

Things I Love: Boots No. 7 for Anti-Aging (and getting rid of my wrinkles)

Let me just throw this out there: I love beauty products.Back in my 20s, this was code for like ohmigerd I just lurve make up okayyyy? And now, this means promise to get rid of my wrinkles and I WILL BUY YOU.The former gives me flashbacks to when I met my hubby: In case you were wondering (because I know you were), this was actually the night that I met my hubs. Can you believe I have a picture from that night? It wasn’t intentional. But I had to throw that out there...Continue reading at …See More

Seven Weeks Later.

It’s been almost seven weeks since Addison was born.Seven weeks – where does the time go?But sometimes, it feels like forever ago. Sometimes it feels so surreal – like maybe the last eight months of our life were a dream. That’s weird, right? It’s amazing how much you can heal in seven weeks. Thinking back to when this first started and where we’re at now, gosh. Should we be feeling this much back to normal?...Continue reading at …See More

A mild case of hand, foot and mouth. Lovely.

Crazy weeks are my favorite.Not.Let me start over: I am so glad it’s the weekend. So, SO glad. This week was one of the busiest I have experienced in the last few months. It stared with a very busy work week. And being busy with work is always a good thing. But here’s what happens every.single.time. that my work weeks are overloaded: my child gets sick. Every time, guys. I should just tag on my calendar that a packed week really means that we’re also going to spend at least one afternoon in the…See More

Share Your Story of Hope After Loss

The day that we found out Addison’s heart had stopped beating, I was more than a little lost. I sat on my couch for three hours staring at nothing. It felt like three minutes. As our journey progressed I started to realize the reality of what was going on around me. Slowly, it felt like I came back to a state of consciousness. But it wasn’t until well after we were home from the hospital that I started to understand the true impact that our still moving journey will have on the rest of our…See More

Be Gentle With Yourself.

“Be Gentle With Yourself.”This is a phrase that is repeated inside of the baby loss community. As a parent who is somewhat out of the fog of the initial shock, I’m starting to understand why this phrase is repeated and repeated and repeated: because it is so hard to not be hard on yourself. At first, you’re just coping with all of the emotions that come along with a situation like ours. There is no tomorrow or yesterday, there is only the present moment...Continue reading at …See More
