Families and Fighting…Is It All Bad?

My husband and I recently got into an argument and while of course I was right, as usual, I could not just walk away.  I knew that my kids were watching but I needed to express how I was feeling at that moment and don’t regret it.Aren’t we supposed to save our arguments when kids are not around?  Of course I don’t want my children to witness us fighting and I certainly don’t recommend getting into the habit of doing it.  Is that really reality though? The reality is it happens; every couple…See More

A Parent’s Guide to Prepping for Vacation (Sans Kids)

A while back, I posted a piece on vacationing sans kids, so it is only fitting to post a guide to preparing for your trip or rather preparing for those you are leaving behind.  Packing for yourself is a big enough chore and if you are leaving the kids home (woo hoo), making sure everything runs smoothly for them or at least attempting to, is an even bigger chore. For those who have experienced the arranging,…See More

The popular series, “A Dad’s Perspective“ is back!  Mommy Masters welcomes Chris Cannon, Bestselling Author and creator of The Manhood Model™, who shares his perspective about Father’s Day and failure.  He also gives us an inside glimpse into the minds of the many men he has coached. Am I enough, do I have enough, did I do enough, did I give them enough, do they see me as enough, was…See More

Tears at Camp…and Not From My Child:

Yes, I was that mom that could barely get enough strength to leave camp this morning and get on with my day.  The one who had tears in her eyes, the one whose heart you could hear pounding and the mom who looked sad and mournful.  I know what you are thinking.  How could I be mourning my new found freedom of having three kids in camp?  Why wasn’t I shouting “Hooray” and celebrating my day ahead sans kids?Believe me when I tell you I woke up with the same thoughts and was beyond joyful to have a…See More

10 "Momfessions" That Should Never be Shared (Accept with You):

As moms, we are expected to act a certain way in order to be good role model for out little ones.  Well, I am here to tell you that it may look like that on the outside, but here’s what’s really going on in the inside.  You can deny all you want but we all have thoughts and actions throughout parenting that we should probably keep to ourselves, but where’s the fun in that?Below are 10 mom confessions, or what I like to call “momfessions”, that need to be let out of the bag.  Don’t judge…you…See More

Crib vs. Bed: When is it time for the Switch?

Many parents ask me how they know when it is the right time to move their little one from the crib to a toddler bed.   Unfortunately the answer is going to be different for everyone because every child is different.  The good news is that you will figure it out.Any new stage and transition in your child’s life is difficult (for you both), but in time, it all settles in and makes perfect sense.  As always, Mommy Masters is here to support you and offer you tips and guidance during this big…See More

A Mother's Day Reminder: Reflect and Relax

I have heard from so many moms lately about how stressed and worn out they all are.  One of them would be me.  We can all relate to the ever popular, “If only there was one more hour to the day” and the, “I just can’t get it all done” slogans. Most days we feel like we are drowning.  Some days we get thrown a life preserver, some days we just don’t have it in us to fight anymore, and other days we have the strength to get our head above water and actually swim to shore. For every item we cross…See More

Six Stages of Vacationing Sans Kids

According to Dictionary.com, the definition of the word ‘vacation’ is as follows: a period of suspension of work, study, or other activity, usually used for rest, recreation, or travel.  Let’s break this down people.Traveling with kids definitely does not fit into this description!  Start with the packing and the preparation needed for a family vacation. It is literally a full time job and takes a ton of organization, lists and…See More

Does Motherhood Freak YOU Out?

A friend of mine who does not have children, recently asked me a very interesting question…and it got me thinking. She asked, “Do you ever think, ‘I are responsible for three human beings’, and does that ever freak you out?”The answer seems like it would be so obvious but in fact, no, I never even thought about that. I know I am of course in charge of three little boys, ensuring they are fed, clothed, loved, etc., but I do those things because when I became a mom, that is what I signed up for…See More

April Parenting Tip: How to Handle Unpredictability

There are many words that can be used to describe motherhood but today, my pick is “unpredictable“.  What you think is a day planned one way can turn into a whole other day in the snap of a finger.  As a mom, you need to be able to quickly adjust and roll with the punches.  This of course is no easy feat but it can be done. You feel like this:…but you know you need to act like this:Last night I noticed my three year old had a rash on his belly, which I didn’t pay too much attention too.  He has…See More

No, I am Not Trying for a Girl so STOP ASKING!

If I had a dollar for every person that questioned me about the sex of my children and had an opinion on my non-existent future child, I would be sitting on my private beach with a delicious cold cocktail in my hand waiting for my personal chef to deliver my lunch. BUT…sadly I don’t, so I am sitting in my house writing this article drinking a glass of water, trying to find some time to make my lunch.G-d gave me three fabulous boys, ages three, six and eight, whom I adore. Are we “Over-Sharenting” on Social Media?

Credit:George HodanIn today’s world, it seems we are all addicted to our smart phones, tablets and laptops.  It is not just our children who have learned to rely on technology but it is us, the parents.  Social media has become part of our daily lives and can often take over.  We cannot wait to share the latest picture of our little one and look forward to discovering what “friend” will comment.  Will it be the camp…See More

My Son Said What?

My eight year old son recently asked me if “tit” is a word.  Yes, I was as taken back as you are reading this piece.  He had not heard it anywhere but had actually made it up, based upon a class assignment to put together as many words as he could think of from a single phrase.Um…I had two choices here:1) Be honest and tell him what it means, knowing he would tell his six year old brother and all his friends at school.2) Act normal, tell him that it doesn’t make any sense and to move on.I know…See More

Hi Ellie- Thanks for stopping by my blog today and leaving a comment. So sorry to hear about your son. I hope he is back to himself soon. I can't believe twice in 4 months- boys are monsters! That is my biggest fear with jackson- broken limbs. He is so carless and fearless and is only 1 1/2 yrs. Hope your little guy feels better.
