The first time she went, she told me “don’t pay any attention to the news!” So I didn’t. Mostly. Then came a year of sporadic phone calls, inevitably in the middle of my night. She was afraid, she couldn’t sleep, she couldn’t tell me anything specific but it was really hard.

Every time she’d call, she’d acknowledge that I’d been sleeping, did I need her to call back later? I said yes once. And still feel guilty.

Working on writing a blog post on my site http://jrrsehopecoaching.com about having a daughter thats being re-deployed overseas. As I write I have to stop now and then as emotion overtakes me. Never realized before how hard I've avoided thinking about this subject. If you're a mom who has a soldier who is (or was) deployed, I'd love to hear from you!
