Last week I had gone to drop Miles off at his daycare and his teacher in the older toddler room asked:

“Does he listen to you at home?”

I replied (while my child was sitting on my knee), “Um, yeah, I mean for the most part.  Why?”

She replied, “Well, he does not listen here at all.” (again, stating this to me right in front of my child) And she continued by looking at him and saying, “See Miles, I told you I was going to tell Mommy.”

I could feel the steam…

JH and I had been together for about 3-3 1/2 years.  I go away for work for a few weeks out of town, while gone he decides he needs “to think about things”, and he takes another girl (HH) on a date, with my bankcard (he was unemployed at the time), actually, make that 3 dates, one for each week that I was gone.  He had dated her for a few weeks in high school, 10 years previous, and they “reconnected” at a bar, while I was there, right before I left for work.  After I came back, he broke up…

 Why is it that the most difficult part of having a conversation with a girlfriend, is leaving men out of it?

I’m just as guilty as the rest of bringing men into the conversation and getting all wrapped up into them.  And when I do, it sounds a lot like this, “well this guy taught me this about myself“, or “because of him I learned this about myself“, why can’t I just learn things about myself by just being with myself?…
