Sarah Canney commented on Sarah Canney's blog post Cast-Iron vs. Non-Stick
"Lisa, I never knew the pros and cons either. I always thought of cast iron as a hassle, but I'm glad I know the benefits far outweigh any "hassle"-which there really isn't at all anyway: just a misconception. "

Way More than 160 Characters

My twitter bio asked me to define myself in less than 160 characters. It’s challenging in a way that forces you to distill your life–who you believe yourself to be–into a few clever and creative phrases. I’ve written bios for employers websites, for by lines in magazines and those always seem easier: you mention your qualifications, accomplishments and maybe a few hobbies. Still not comprehensive, but easier than 160 characters. My twitter bio says that I am a wife, a mom, a runner, a sister, a…See More

A Move and a Makeover

In February I published my what I said was my last post. I guess I knew in my heart that it wouldn't be my last, but at the same time I needed it to be my "last" in order to fully free myself to discover what shape my life would take as a stay-at-home-mom. I spent the past four months mulling over a major aspect of my life that I rarely share, but now feel it is the right time and that is my struggle with…See More

Swallowed Up: My Feelings Post-Partum

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 8:56pm 0 Comments

Last night, while my husband and I talked on the couch after putting our daughter to bed (Oh that precious quiet after bed time!), I told him that I felt “swallowed up.” In the past nearly three weeks since Jack’s birth, I’ve had little time to take care of myself. My days are filled with nursing, changing diapers, mopping up pee off the floor (my daughter seems to have reverted back to her pre-potty trained self), changing pee -oaked clothes, folding laundry and trying to…

TMI or Not Enough?

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 8:54pm 0 Comments

This post contains a lot of information that could be listed in the “too much” category (as in TMI). I’ll be talking about women’s health specifically as it relates to Bladder Prolapse so there will be words in this post like vagina and sex, so if those make you uncomfortable I suggest you wait until the next post when I share a Paleo Pumpkin Bread recipe , which will contain words…

For the past two weeks I have been counting calories. As someone with a history of an eating disorder this can be a dangerous thing. For this very reason, as a rule, I don’t count calories. But two weeks ago I realized I would not be returning to running as quickly as I expected and I began to doubt my body’s ability to get back to its pre-pregnancy weight without my normal activity level. I decided to “help” things along by starting to track what I ate and…

Grateful and a Race for Recovery: Helping Victims of Hurricane Sandy

Posted on November 15, 2012 at 8:50pm 0 Comments

We spent this past weekend up in Maine at my mother-in-law’s beach house. It has become a special place for us filled with summer memories, but we really love it in the off-season, when all the tourist are gone and we have the beach to ourselves. One of favorite thing to do there is sit out on the sun porch, look out over the ocean and read or write as I listen to the surf. It’s pretty darn relaxing, especially when you add a glass of wine to that scenario.…
