Time running through outstretched fingers

hand paralyzed

can’t hold on to what I want most

indecision causes inaction

do I let go or hold on?

Although my life is nothing like I imagined

I don’t regret any decision

regret is such a pointless thing

sabotaging hope and damaging dreams

although if I knew then

what I know now

I would be husbandless

and without child

not because I regret my life

but because I now understand what it means to be wife

I have learned much

I have felt pain

but if I had the choice

I wouldn't do it…

I can feel it sucking at me

Dragging its clawed hand down my spine

Seeking to pull me back into the pit.

I do not let go

My ankles, they bleed from the talons which encircle them

A ring of fire around my spirit

Beckoning me to descend again

It is a form of comfort

To let go

To stop fighting

To free fall to the bottom

But I have gained each bloody foot

It has cost me

I will not let go

I claw harder at the gritty…
