This afternoon I found myself sitting in a local short-order restaurant opposite my husband and older daughter with our younger daughter sleeping peacefully in her car seat beside me, munching on my delicious salmon burger and stealing a couple of fries from our daughter's kid's meal. Suddenly, I had to smile. Out of the blue, for no particular reason. Sitting there, looking at those three people that mean the world and more to me, my… Continue

A lump in my breast really wasn’t what I had planned for the day. Ugh! Not now. Not that I really wanted to schedule a time that I thought would be good, “Ah…yes next Tuesday at 9 am that would be a great time to discover a lump in my breast as long as I can be to Layla’s dance class by 10:15….”…

Note to Self
Two years ago I had my very first experience as a mother having a birthday party for my child. It was AWFUL! A true nightmare! Now you might think that I am a woman with zero tolerance for children but on… Continue

Working from home can be a dream come true, or it can be a disaster waiting to happen. Combining the work environment and the home
environment can add daily stress to the home atmosphere. Organizing the
work space will offer some solutions to this stress.
Your work space should be a defined area. It may be an extra bedroom, the dining room table, or a corner in the family room. Continue
Take the time to define the space and claim it as a work space. Doing…

We got together with my cousin’s wife, and her kids, a couple of weeks
ago. Since then, I’ve had no peace when it comes to Whitney and her
hair. She’s been begging me for long hair like my cousin’s daughter,
Olivia. [What does that make her...a second cousin, first cousin once
removed? O.K., until we can hammer this out, we’ll just keep referring
to her like Whitney does: OLIVIA, OLIVIA, OLIVIA!
And, no way mammy is anyone, under my care,… Continue

I love spas. I love facials and massages and manicures and pedicures. I love the Zen feeling you get when you walk into a spa and are handed a cool glass of water with the floating lemon
slices. The calming harp music
always makes me more aware that I need less stress in my life and more

It's hard enough to find things that are healthy for our kids to eat, but getting them to put healthy things in their mouths is a whole other story. I hear that so many times from so many parents, but you know what? It's not really that hard. My children have been eating healthy without a fight for years. How? I am a full on health-food-hiding ninja. Call me the phantom of the healthy meal.
Learning the art of hiding healthy food in unsuspecting disguises is something that I learned… Continue

As many of you know, we're definitely a non-traditional family. When Lily was 8 weeks old I went back to work part-time until Richard was done with the Army. When she was 5 months old we packed our life in Kansas up and moved to Washington. I found a full-time job and Richard ended up staying at home with our daughter. This temporary arrangement became permanent, and Lily had the benefit of being raised by a parent full time. At times during these 2… Continue

I read a lot of fellow mommy bloggers and a lot of people post about the funny talents they came up with or never knew they had until they became a mom. It is so true, we sign up to feed, cloth, nurture, and take care of a baby, but the job quickly turns into 500 different things before the kid even turns 1.
Here are a few skills I have now acquired since becoming a mommy....
* I can now feed a baby (bottle) and type on the computer at the same time. I'd like to… Continue

Camping is so fun and exciting! You must stay organized!
It's important to stay on top of your shopping list. Stay focused!
Don't look away....their caught red handed .....the kids just put
something a little extra in your cart! If it's not the list don't give
it. Hey if it's a well deserved item go ahead and given in. We all
probably did the same thing to our parents at some point in life. Come
on and admit it!

This morning at the doctors office my 3 yr old daughter thought it would be cute to yell "Mother fucker" at the doctor and through the whole hospital. I definitly wanted to jump out of my body and run away. It was extremely embarrassing.

So we have been so busy and having so much fun because the in-laws were here and I have been neglecting my blog postings. So here is an update on everything that has been going on.
Ethan is doing so great in his crib. He loves being in his own room
and seems to be sleeping so much better. We are now on day 10 and so
far so good as far as he is concerned. I on the other hand had a few
rough nights and since last night was the first night the in-laws
weren’t sleeping in… Continue

Since I started making Ethan’s baby food, I wanted to share the recipes I use and come up with. We started with Avocado and he did pretty well with it.
- 1 Avocado (NOTE: I found with the avocado it is best to only make what you are going to use right away.)
- 1 oz Breast Milk or Formula (optional depending on stage of development)
Cut Avocado in half
