Last Friday afternoon, we welcomed two new family members into our crazy lives. No, not new dogs or cats, or children, Heaven forbid.
Two flame tetras.…

We have a serious problem in our house.
Someone sneaks into our house, past the dog, past my husband and I, and past the kids... to take bites out of the strawberries in the fridge.
I have yet to catch this person. The rumor in our house is that the person's name is Not Me. I have no confirmation of this yet, nor a description to give to the police.
I have been considering issuing an APB on Not Me. Perhaps even having him or her highlighted on America's Most Wanted. …Continue

Happy Friday friends! Are many of you celebrating the 4th this weekend? My fam and I are holding off until next weekend, so I'll share all the fun with you next week.
Today I wanted to share something personal. A few weeks ago I shared a little about our story of infertility…Continue

This is it. 48 hours from now I’ll be mid-race. I can’t decide if I’m nervous, excited or about to throw up. It’s probably equal parts of all three.
One moment I’m sure I can do this; I know my zone and once in it, it’s a comfortable place to be. Moments later I doubt my readiness. That’s normal, right?
It’s race kit pick up today.…Continue

As I put the finishing touches (that’s code for spellcheck) on this yesterday I saw other show reviews popping up forCavalia’s Odysseo and I questioned whether or not mine really needed to be out in the interverse.
Conclusion: It does. Know why? Because this is my space and Cavalia is one of those things that I feel like chatting…Continue

There’s so much positive to say about this mini summer vacation long weekend we just had, but all I can think about is this:
I HAVE 5 DAYS UNTIL RACE DAY AND I HURT MY BACK LIFTING GRAVEL!CRAP!
Yes, yes I did do that.
We had a full and happy weekend. Part of it was spent in the endless pursuit of beautifying a…Continue

Summer is here and so is my pool envy. Also my pool want and pool whine. Anyone close to me is familiar with it because I use the same script every year.
“It’s hot. This is pool weather. I want a pool. I wish we had a pool. We need a pool. Why didn’t we get a house with a pool? We should have bought that bungalow with the pool. Can we have a pool? Let’s put one in this year!”
I alter the order, tone, and volume level of the script just to change things up and not bore anyone.…Continue

SO, after today I'm thinking about coming up with my own brand new cuss word and contacting the Webster dictionary to submit my entry packed with a catchy definition and a picture of my pain in the ass trio entourage and their shit eatin greedy toothless grins.
My funk mood started yesterday when I was feeling sorry for Thing 3. She was sad because Thing 2 got to go to the neighborhood pool with his friend for the 3rd day in a row and she had to suffer while coming with me to drop…Continue

Driving Bou to school every day allows me time to contemplate the universe’s big questions. Because who doesn’t enjoy profound philosophical thinking pre-caffeine? These preoccupied me recently:
A. Why does the person beside me at the lights always want to race?

Let me share a few truths with my fellow runners and those contemplating joining our Gang.
C’mon …. you know you want join us. Our sanity is questionable, but we get to wear flashy shoes and killer shades.
It is never a good idea to try to stare down a Canada goose while running past its nest. You’re safe to assume there’s a nest if the Mr. starts puffing his chest out and making lungey, aggressive movements in your direction. Look…Continue

Ever seen kids in a candy store? Mad grins plastered on their faces. Noticeable tremors coursing through their limbs in anticipation of the riches to uncover. And the glassy, slightly panicked look in their eyes….. Soooo many things to look at.How to choose?
That’s me at the local nursery in the spring. Don’t be frightened. I just love to garden.
In my (wildly vivid) imagination I create a masterpiece of colours, textures, and scents rivaling the gardens of …Continue

How can we get back to the days of worrying about which diaper would least chafe our darlings’ perfect tushes, how to treat skinned knees, and at what age we could allow them their first taste of honey? For the record I never followed any feeding rules. My kids tried Roquefort and honey long before the experts deemed they were of age. Some rules just bug me.
Those of you with children under 8, enjoy these years and their relatively simple concerns. Once your kids are pre or full-blown…Continue

On a regular basis I face a task so monumental, so frightening, and so sadly unavoidable that I cringe in fear before tackling it.
Mornings. Hair. Drama. Just put that all together and you have our daily dose of hairy scary.
Regardless of the conditioning goop I get suckered into buying at least once every two months, nothing detangles it and keeps it that way for more than 30 minutes.
Every day we have this conversation:
Me: Let me spray on some…Continue
