Media and Croatian Homemaking

(This is what 5 loads of laundry looks like at my house)

This is the part where I have to remain very disciplined.

Homemaking here varies vastly from homemaking in the States, and because…

Creating Your Own Balancing Act...

How To Start Creating A Balanced Life

Do you remember when you watched the circus and it was time for the balancing act of the plates. I always got really nervous for the performer hoping they don’t drop any plates.

Balancing multiply plates on a stick is not an easy…

Letting go of the small things

Visit here for more: http://wp.me/pyL3i-vU

What's small potatoes to some moms is a big deal for others and vice versa.  I'm not an over bearing mom, I'm not even too big of a worrier, but I care what my kids eat.  "You are what you eat," I've always heard, and I live by that motto.

This weekend we shipped off our 2.5-year old to the beach with his grandparents (we miss our baby).  This wil be the first time…

How I Approach Going Green

Do you want to take steps to living a greener healthier life, but are unsure where to start?  If that’s you, I can help!  To be honest, my obsession with healthier, greener living began with diapers.  I couldn’t fathom throwing away thousands upon thousands of cloth diapers and I knew once I had children I would have to go cloth.  Well, once I got into cloth diapers it spiralled  out of control from there.  I decided I wanted to provide my baby with the most healthy, gentle…

My Journey to Claiming my House Back...One Toy at a Time!

Have children taken over your home? Do you trip over toys in the middle of the night? Are you constantly cleaning up the same mess, multiple times a day? My answers would be YES, YES, and YES!!! When we moved into our home 3 ½ years ago, we set aside a play area in our family room for our boys, which is now overflowing with toys and a constant cleaning project for me. It seems the playroom now extends into every room and the time has come to clean house and make some changes! With the help of… Continue

Cloth Diapering - 2 years later

It's hard to believe that its been over two years since Christopher was born. It has flown by. It has also been over two years since we made the cloth diapering commitment.

While pregnant with Christopher I frequented a mommy discussion board and learned that cloth diapering is making a comeback. I also learned that these are not your mother's or grandmother's cloth diapers. In fact, they are very close to disposables. They are super easy to use and have I ever mentioned how cute… Continue

Mommyhood Confessions - TV

I have another confession...

I let Christopher watch TV and probably what some would consider "a lot."

No, he is not parked in front of the TV for hours on end, but we have been known to use it as a "babysitter."

And I do feel bad about it. I hate that we have fallen into that bad habit.

But, putting on Yo Gabba Gabba or Sesame Street while trying to get things done often makes our lives that much easier.

Or in the morning, when Christopher… Continue

How to Dine Out With Small Children - Video

There's been a lot of talk in the news lately about the utility of being able to manage kids and their accompanying behavior.  Whether it's in a restaurant or airplane - there seems to be a growing contingent of the population that has determined, for whatever reasons, that kids are just not the best attendees at particular places. More specifically, the topic of whether or not kids should be…

I'm Nervous about Flying Alone with Baby. HELP!

I wrote earlier this week about how I didn't want to leave V and go to London for six days (I Don't Know If I Can Do It).  My reasons for leaving him are, I have to admit, quite selfish.  I didn't want to fly with him on my own.  I've got to sort out his birthday party stuff while I'm there - and he won't remember my mum, so he won't stay with her alone, which…

The Benefits of A Pre-paid TracFone

About a year ago my mother in law was out for a walk with her dogs when she fell and hurt herself really bad. She's 66 years old and sort of resistant to technology, but after she fell she had a change of heart. She had to go the hospital and had to get several MRI's and while we are thankful her injuries were not life threatening, we really wished she had a cell phone so she didn't have to walk back to her house to call 911. If she had broken her leg instead of just scraping it up, who…

Weekend away at 1000 Island Lake

The resort we're staying in is still in Hangzhou, but took us a 2 hour drive to get there. It's practically in the middle of nowhere. Their entrance seems to be miles from the main building, where we noticed every tree is brightly lit by a spotlight. And they have like thousands of them. It costs a lot I'm sure, but it's also necessary as it is the only lighting there is with nothing else around it except a vast lake and jungly area.

It's an amazing resort with great pools. Briana…
