Life Is So Much Better With Your Friends
The 1980’s were such an incredibly colorful and fun time to grow up in. We all had big hair that made us appear three inches taller than we actually were because it was so teased and poofed up like a rooster crown. Our clothes were made up of big, baggy neon shirts with low hanging belts, printed or acid washed jeans, colorful pumps with lace socks, and fingerless lace gloves a la Madonna. Jewelry consisted of earrings that each weighed the equivalent to a TV remote control, Swatch watches,…

The Life of a Freelancer - Have Laptop, will Travel!
I love everything about freelancing, from not having to go into a traditional brick and mortar office, to having the freedom to come and go as I please. Of course, if I choose to ‘go’ too often, it won’t pay the bills…which eases up with freelancing, but doesn’t ever completely go away.
I have also learned so much through my freelancing, because I write…sometimes on topics that I know nothing about before taking the project on. In other words, I have done more research since…

Today I headed out to Jetty Island with Isabel to meet up with a mommy play group. Jetty Island is a long strip of land in the bay off the coast of Everett, WA. I've heard from a few co-workers that it was a great place to bring your kids but I never made the journey before. For one, it would have been just Izzy and I and it's not as fun without other kids to join in. Since The North shore mommy play group planned to met there it was the perfect opportunity to check it out.…

I don't know what changed. Whatever it was it started 2-3 weeks ago. My two almost three year old has a consta-whine. She can turn it on at the drop of a hat for no reason at all. It's almost as if the more her vocabulary grows the less she uses it and just whines for what she wants. There aren't even words mixed in, it's just a low level "ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh........." The more I ask her to use her words or try to guess what she wants the more she mumbles and whines.…

My hubby has pregnancy symptoms, too
At this point in my pregnancy, I’m used to all of the new symptoms that seem to crop up on a weekly basis. I’m semi-used to sharing my belly with the bean, who seems to take up more space every.single.day. But one thing that I never even expected to have to get used to was Ricky having his own form of pregnancy symptoms.
Now, I’ve read about a lot of the standard sympathy symptoms that some men get: weight gain, a sore back and anxiety about the baby coming.…

My Kids Said What?!
The following comments were actually made in my household…by my kids. There is a weird theme evolving subconsciously here….should I be scared? You tell me. And then please tell me that your kids have said something similar, or worse, preferably! ![]()
Awkward Statement #1: (setting – our living room, during a nice game of restaurant with my kids) I was just about to order something fancy from my son when he approached me and said, “Hello, madam. My name is Magic…

What Is the Difference Between Calzone and Stromboli?
Calzone is a turnover with ingredients similar to pizza. The making of calzones started in Naples, Italy in the 18th century. The name came from the baggy pants worn by men during the time.
The ingredients of calzones usually consist of mozzarella, ricotta, tomato sauce, and other…

What to Do if You’ve Fallen for an Online Scam
Avoiding a scam or dealing with the consequences of acting on one both require common sense and acquired knowledge to get through. An investment in gas can only be negotiated by educating yourself on the basics and it’s the same with knowing who to believe online.
If you’ve fallen for an online scam, the consequences can be irreversible, particularly if you have sent cash – it is unlikely you’ll ever get it…

Improvements in Child Safety Products
Kids are a lot safer now than they were when I was a kid. I don’t have any numbers to back up my assertion (because that would require research) but I do have anecdotal memories. My sister and my friends and I never wore a seatbelt (as long as we were in the backseat which apparently was base in a car), there were no bicycle helmets, we shared the road with cars as we rode our bikes everywhere, we lived in houses covered with lead paint and used mercury thermometers. We…

What Were Party Mom & Dad Smoking?
After working late on Friday and Saturday night I was looking forward to a relaxing Sunday night at home. Jackson had a birthday party to go to that afternoon, after which I was planning to hit the grocery store and pick up something yummy for hubby to make for dinner while we watched the Olympics. Unfortunately this plan fell apart. Why? My money is on a little girl's parents smoking some funny right before her 4th birthday party!

Introducing Tuesday Book Club!
We absolutely love reading with our little ones and believe it’s never too early to start! Whether you’re reading to your baby still incubating, your newborn, toddler or 7 year old we believe it is SO important to read to our kids no matter what age. Heck I’m a 32 year old kid and I still enjoy being read to despite the fact that it doesn’t happen too often anymore.…

IE10's Do Not Track Feature: Will it Affect Your Business?
In June 2012 Microsoft announced Internet Explorer 10 would install with a Do Not Track feature activated by default. The announcement caused a flurry of protests from online business interests and accusations Microsoft was attempting to hamstring Google's cookie-based advertisements.
Bowing to pressure, Microsoft quickly reversed its position, and the DNT feature will no longer be active by default. Why all the fuss over a privacy setting?
Do Not Track Flags
