It's been awhile since I've written about her. It's been awhile since I
have been caught off guard by her absence. The truth is that
sometimes, in a rare moment, the pain of her passing is still as

My grandmother has been gone almost 7 months, but her name continually
escapes my youngest daughter's lips. The other day, I was looking for a
picture of the beach for my new blog button. Hannah walked up behind
me and said,… Continue

Jake, clearly, must be in the Halloween spirit. All week he's been acting like something he's so not....a little turd!
Thank goodness he seems to be pulling out of it, but, either way, Halloween has been interesting.
But, can't call it bad....got a 90 minute phone call from hubby today!!!!!!!!http://thelamaybakery.blogspot.com/

Today we are taking cookies to my friend George. We found out a couple of weeks ago that George has cancer and probably won’t live long. He’s been a great friend to me and to my family. He’s not a young man and has lived a full life. I wish I knew him even better.
Before I found out he was sick I was consumed with some personal issues. I felt like I was carrying the world on my shoulders and wasn’t sure of the outcome. George came to my work that morning to have coffee… Continue

Happy Halloween everyone! My husband and I were talking earlier about what our favorite costume was growing up. I didn't even have to think twice...mine was Cruella De Ville. I was an 18 year old college kid and I was *so* mad that I didn't win my school's costume contest. A lot of people didn't even realize it was me underneath that big hairdo! What was your favorite Halloween costume when you were a kid?… Continue

Hey Moms! Feeling overwhelmed, exhausted or just plain unproductive???? Instead of feeling like you do not have enough time in the day to "get it all done," maybe the focus should be on getting more done in less time! It is quite easy to get wrapped up in what might be a meaningless task for the day because you have not really asked yourself what… Continue

Last night our little family had lots of fun carving pumpkins. We made sure to prepare our work station really well. We played some music and made an event of it. My little girl was uncomfortable with the cleaning of the pumpkins. Also, once we started carving them she said, "Uh, oh... need to fix it."…

Halloween can be a scary time- not because of ghosts or monsters but because of all the high-calorie, fat-loaded, yummy candy! Halloween candy is some of the worst stuff that you can eat. It is high in saturated fat and the calories can really add up...

A few weeks ago, I wrote about whether we would even participate in Halloween since Maggie was still young.. but wow I am so glad we did. She's had a such a fun time so far...and she LOVES wearing the garden gnome costume. Actually, she loves it a little too much. Molly was a cute baby for Halloween this year. “I know what your blog should be today,” The hubby said this to me two days ago.
I turned from the door and gave him a confused look. “What do you mean?”
I still was confused.
“Babe, that is the fifth time you’ve checked the door in a half an hour.”
I gave him a shamefaced smile. It was the truth. I had been waiting for my mom to come so we could begin our road trip. Since about ten minutes after I got home from work, I had… Continue
