As the week kept rolling along so did our planned culinary adventure. But finally on Saturday I made it to the market and found the time to cook! None of us were very hungry. We didn't want a large meal. As the day drew to a close we just wanted to settle down with something light, easy-to-eat, and enjoy a good movie together. Thankfully the Maltese supper I'd planned was a perfect fit.
In the end using all these ingredients…

I've been ranting and raving about how life has changed for me when my oldest daughter left for college this fall. I've shared my increase in number of pity parties I have thrown for myself even though my daughter is thrilled in her new home away from home.....COLLEGE. Her departure didn't only affect me, but affected the entire family...........We are still a family of seven and always will be but now only six live at home. It changed.
Before Daughter #1 left for College…Continue

If you can do a 5km while pushing a pram with one arm and holding a crying, screaming baby in the other arm, then you can do just about anything.
So, Joe wasn’t too keen on the 5km this Sunday.
I signed up for the race about 1 1/2 months ago. At the time, I thought that the 9:45am start would be OK. Joe was taking short morning naps back then. Of course, as is often the case with little…Continue

It’s no secret that the main reason I stumbled into an eco lifestyle is because I am cheap. Fortunately, I found many more benefits that encouraged me to supplement my suburban lifestyle with green living. The first choice I made was to cloth diaper my baby. She just outgrew the diapers I bought for her newborn phase. It’s time to see how they stack up and which brand brought the most bang for the buck. I’m comparing the price of the three systems to each other and to disposables. Overall,…Continue

Halloween sure does change when you become a mom! I was looking through a friend's pictures from an adult Halloween party over the weekend and felt strangely disconnected.
I had done this party thing for years and this weekend was spent carving pumpkins, teaching Stella to say "trick or treat", and putting the finishing touches on our decorations. Today I will be going to Stella's Halloween party at her day care and later, ordering pizzas and having another family over to trick or…

Bloggy Moms! How I've missed you so.
It's been a while since I posted here. Being 2 and 3 years old now, my toddlers are at a stage where they've finally calmed a bit and I can get back to networking. Ok, they haven't calmed that much, but at least they're taking naps again. LOL So I get two hours per day to myself.
Join me in a YAY!!! won't you?
For some reason as my son neared 3 and his baby sister neared two, they became a bit more of a…Continue

Halloween is one of our favorite holidays; we go all out each year! Dressing up is serious business, even for the adults. Connecticut lawmaker Tim Larson has made an interesting proposition this year – designating Halloween as the last Saturday of October versus the 31st. As soon as I read about it, I was…Continue

Do you believe in ghosts?
My mother had some very strange experiences. She was a very grounded, prayerful, church going women who always recognized that though she was on a fixed income, there was always someone more in need. And she did what she could to help. She always told me there was more to fear…
Monday morning. We made it through another weekend. As I watch Dazey the He-She Cat eat the dog’s food and wonder who has been messing with my laptop settings as the colors are now all funky looking, I am mentally reviewing the weekend (who said I couldn’t multi-task) and two thoughts keep coming to mind: Kelly Clarkson and the fact that Daddy Owl and I had an accidental date night…Continue
