Wonderful Wednesday - it is wonderful when our children do unexpected acts of kindness.
Each Wonderful Wednesday throughout the month of September I will be celebrating unexpected acts of kindness. This week I am celebrating unexpected acts of kindness from my children.
The first unexpected act of kindness was done by my teenie bopper when she was six years old. My husband and I had been married for twelve years at that point and he took me…

I am just going to say it straight out, I hate going to the eye doctor. I would rather have a pap smear than get my eyes checked. Crazy but true. On Monday, I realized that I only had 3 days of my contacts left and from past experience I know you need a prescription and past the one year mark they won’t give you anymore. Every year I try to find a way of getting more contacts without getting the eye exam, but I have yet to find a…Continue

This past Saturday morning Tiara had a big surprise.
Avalon, a 6th grader at Newport Heights Elementary, my Alma mater, came over to our house with her Mom, Gina and brought with them boxes and boxes and boxes of crayons. WOW! Tiara was so excited she kept saying “thank you, thank you, your welcome, Oh My God!” She was so overwhelmed…Continue

Now that my birthday is over, I have a few thank you notes to write and I am contemplating how to get them done. I grew up super old school, where a written thank you note was to be sent within 2 days of receiving any gift. I tried to teach my…Continue

Tiara is still vomiting all the time and now that we suspect the vomiting is actually a seizure, I knew I needed a lot of help from her neurologist and fast. The next…Continue

So I've been a little hush, hush about something new and exciting as I guess I just couldn't really believe it until I knew it was really happening! I met a couple weeks ago with the lovely ladies from Charm, this fantastic new shop in Martin City (right on 135th St., just east of the railroad tracks). I've been a big fan of their work for a while, and…Continue

The Veneto is a large, beautiful region in northeastern Italy. It reaches northwards into the Dolomite Mountains, where you will find some of Italy’s most exclusive tourist and ski resorts, and westward to Lake Garda with its olive trees and its majestic views. Following along the course of the Brenta River, you will come to Palladio’s splendid villas. Picturesque towns seem to sprout up from the gently rolling hills. Vineyards feed off the water of the Adige river…Continue

As a couple we have decided to read The Marriage Project by Kathy Lipp to add a bit more tenderness into our marriage after having a baby. This series follows our experiences, you can read the first post here.
In the foreword the book actually suggests that you invite other couples to put their marriages on Project Status along with you. If you would like to purchase a copy of your own book and pair up with Josh and I you can…Continue
It's almost Hump Day, I was up all night with a spaztastic dog because of storms, and it's late....so the only good thing I could come up with today is a list.
Fall is drawing close and I am very excited to not be having inappropriate thoughts like, "maybe I can take my shirt off and walk around..." anymore. Do not worry, I did not start walking around topless . . . in public. Now it is cool enough to put on pants! Hallelujah I love fall, the beautiful colors the cool breeze the smell of the fresh cool air there really is nothing better.
It is also a time for hot soup. This has been one…Continue

Here's a topic no one seems to want to mention. Moms have anxiety.
Now I'm not saying we all sit around every day scared to leave the house (although I know some do, and I know that some days otherwise anxiety free moms will feel that way as well) but anxiety is a common part of daily life. Anxiety is that feeling that reminds us not to let them out of sight in a busy store, or to buckle the carseat, and that hot stoves are hot. I know it seems like common sense, but in truth it is…

We can learn so much from our children. One thing I've been reminded of is the joy of simply watching the world go by. The garbage truck comes only one day each week, that means only one day to watch him go up and down the street with that fancy new garbage truck that picks the bins up with it's mechanical arm and dumps them out, just to put them back where they started. Want to make this extra exciting? Help your neighbours by brining the bins…Continue
