2 Kinds of Clutter
When Peter Walsh was talking to the audience, he suggested there are 2 types of clutter:
Let’s take a look at each and see how we can re-think the way we look at those items.
Memory clutter is anything that you keep to remind yourself of a person, a time, a past event, etc. Things like:

Times tables: Seven times three is...? A massive headache for mummy.
Amy has decided that she is no good at maths.
I have decided to prove otherwise.
Which is why I have been trying to help her with her times tables.
I don’t know about you but I have a distinct memory of the teacher forcing us to repeat out times tables over and over and over again and again and again until somehow they just became lodged in our brains. Never to be forgotten.
What’s seven times…

Jackie Is Now An Official Bike Rider
This is a huge accomplishment for my little girl. And I am one proud mom.
Up until last year, Jackie didn't seem too interested in riding on 2 wheels. She was happy with her bike with training wheels and so was I. I just wasn't ready to risk her incurring more injuries even though she does wear a bike helmet. About a year and a half ago, T bought Jackie a Princess bike after she outgrew the toddler bike. The training wheels on this new bike were set so that she would get the hang of…

I pulled the chair into the stream of sun pouring in through our dirty patio window and took a seat, tucking my knees into my chest.
I let the heat warm my face and the light kiss my soul.
I let myself just be in the moment.
Then I reached for a book.
“It’ll be ok,” he said as he came up from the basement.
I just looked at him and buried my head back…

His voice carried through the screen door with a passing warm breeze.
“It’s gorgeous out babe. You should really come outside.”
I saw that he had pulled out the plastic lawn chairs that had been hibernating in the shed for the winter.
I looked down at my pajama bottoms that had been comfortably molded to my legs after a few days of wearing them.
My shirt was wrinkled from laying in bed all morning.
I brushed my hands through my tangled hair.
I didn’t…

The nurse directed me back to a small room in the ER where Dr. B, my psychiatrist, was waiting.
I flashed a nervous smile, pulled my sleeves over the self-inflicted cuts on my arm and said, “I’m not doing good.”
He motioned to the chair and I sat.
“I think we need to change our plans Kim. I’m going to put you on a mood stabilizer and an…

2 under 2 battles
When my younger daughter was born my older daughter was only 18 months old. I remember throughout my pregnancy hearing about the two under two battles and that my older daughter was going to be jealous. That it was going to be a big issue. So I prepared myself, and her. I gave her a baby doll to play with. I let her know about the baby. We read books. Anything that might make her feel more comfortable with the baby.
The day came that my younger daughter was born and we didn't…

This Kid Will Drive Me To Drink: Or Kill Me In The Process..
It was going to be a good day. The sun was already peeking through the window and the boys had yet to bombard me with their pointy elbows and sharp knees. I considered treating them to a gallon of ice cream for breakfast, just for letting me sleep in past sunrise.Added by iMentalMommy on June 1, 2011 at 10:07am — No Comments
This Kid Will Drive Me To Drink: 2.5
This weekend we visited some dear friends of ours and had a lovely time at the beach. The kids played in the water, made sandcastles and occupied themselves by searching for starfish, sea urchins and sea slugs.
Thing 2 found the sea slugs especially amusing. In a last-ditch effort to escape the pokes…

This Kid Will Drive Me To Drink: 2nd Edition
The sun was streaming through my bedroom windows and the sound of false rain pelting on a tin roof blared from my White Noise machine. My bedroom door creaked open and Thing 2 poked his head in. I wiggled my fingers and smiled to him. I heard Thing 1 stirring around in the other room.
My…
