What is the History Behind St. Patrick’s Day?
March 17, also known as, St. Patrick’s Day. If you didn’t put on green this morning, don’t be surprised if someone tries to pinch you or teases you that you didn’t wear any green today. I remember wearing green as a child in order to avoid being teased or pinched at school. However, there are a few other traditions that are popular on this Irish Holiday. Some of these traditions include: parades, leprechauns, clovers (shamrocks), the color green, and anything…

Getting The Gold! A St. Patrick's Day Kids Craft: Making A Leprechaun Trap
Last week my son's kindergarten teacher sent home a note to all the parents. Apparently my son’s classroom has been invaded by a mischievous little Leprechaun who has been disrupting the classroom such as knocking over chairs and leaving books out! In order to catch the leprechaun, the class is going to put out traps to try to get his pot of gold! All the children were asked to use their cleverness, ingenuity and of course, some help from mom and dad, to make their own leprechaun trap and…

In observance of World Women's Day (and I happily accepted my red carnation at the grocery store), it's time to look behind the campaigns and band mottos and focus on what we all want: true equality between men and women.
At this point I don't want to focus on the plight of women in Africa, South-East Asia, or the Middle East. We all know about the horrors of female genital mutilation (FGM), girls being married of to men decades their senior or women being locked in at home and denied…

Creamy Baked Rice Pudding Recipe
I adore Rice Pudding. I made some a few days ago and my house smelled absolutely amazing! My Mum used to make this all the time when I was growing up; I can't get it quite like hers though... I wish I could because I have never tasted another quite like it!
I think it's down to the cream... In England there are lot's of different thicknesses of cream available to buy. You can buy Single Cream, Double Cream, Whipping Cream (Heavy Cream) or my personal favorite, Clotted Cream…

100th Day Of School...And Counting....
Depending on when you started the academic year — and how many snow days you’ve had so far — the 100th day of school should be any day now. For my son’s kindergarten class, that day is today.
I had never heard of this “celebration” before. This was not something that I remember from my own elementary school experience. I had only learned about it this past summer when I started…

Family Day Fun with Hasbro!
Family Day when you’re a Non still counts, it’s just on a smaller scale people-wise…but not fun-wise…and the fun can be achieved in the same way too.
I like getting back to basics and taking a break from my keyboard and monitors from time to time and I decided that for Family Day weekend I would do just that.
My friends at Hasbro sent over some great games to try out, and none required a computer which met my weekend fun criteria to a tee!…

I hope you all had a great Valentine's Day! The hubby and I hate V-Day with a passion; mostly, we think it's nothing but a Hallmark Holiday aimed at selling stuff. So, we're all against the selling part part and all for love, we rather enjoy the day as a celebration to us as a family and as a couple.
A couple of days before, I told the Mister not to worry about dinner that day and that I would take care of it (since I am coming home from work around 5:15, I'm a lucky girl to have…

Valentines Candy Gifts
Last night hubby and my 10 year old decided to have a father daughter moment and put together Gifts treats for the kids in my daughter's class. There idea was to take 22 chocolate hearts, glitter stickers, and cards. They taped the stickers and card onto the hearts and they came out looking like this:

This Valentine's Day My Heart Belongs To....Optimus Prime?
I love making crafts - knitting, scrapbooking or making cards, collages or photos, you name it and I'm game to try making it. Like any crafty mom, I’ve spent the past few weeks scouring the web for super cute and easy Valentine’s Day ideas and pinning them to my “Craft Ideas” Pinterest board. My hope was to make some fun handmade Valentine craft/card with my kindergartener son to give out his class.
