A Mom Blog Social Network
In observance of World Women's Day (and I happily accepted my red carnation at the grocery store), it's time to look behind the campaigns and band mottos and focus on what we all want: true equality between men and women.
At this point I don't want to focus on the plight of women in Africa, South-East Asia, or the Middle East. We all know about the horrors of female genital mutilation (FGM), girls being married of to men decades their senior or women being locked in at home and denied…

World Education Games 2013
I recently came across an article about World Education Games. It got me so interested I had to check out their website. Well, we are too young to participate since it's for students 4-18 years of age. But since it is an annual global online challenge, we'll maybe try it at some other…

World Prematurity Day - "Tiny" and Kathryn
Today is World Prematurity Day (hope you are wearing purple!)
Our girls were born at 30 weeks and 5 days. To most people that seems really early. To someone who has has had a 24/26/28 weeker, anything beyond 30 weeks is where you hope to get.
But our girls were not normal 30 weekers. Kathryn…

The Teeny, Tiny Land of Disney
Most of this was previously posted on Tales From the Motherland.
Spoiler: If you are planning to go to Disneyland anytime between now and Halloween, this may be a spoiler. Further, I am taking Disney down a notch here. Don't read this post, if you don't want to have your World of Magic sullied a little. Just call me Grumpy.
This past week I flew to California to visit my…

We will remember them
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.

On Thursday 17 November 2011 it will be World Prematurity Day and March of Dimes is asking all bloggers to do a post about any experience they have had with premature babies. I will be certainly be taking part and am encouraging as many people as I can to join in and raise awareness of just how many premature babies are born into this world.
So if you have had an experience you would…

Fast Passes for the Parades?
There is an interesting piece of information circulating that Disney will be doing a test run on offering "fast passes" for reserved viewing areas for the afternoon parade in the Magic Kingdom. The test run is expected to start next week and run through mid November. I'm curious as to how this will play out.…

Heads Up for Fantasmic Fans
Since Saturday night, technical problems have kept Sorcerer Mickey from being able to appear on top of the mountain for the Fantasmic finale. Currently guests will see Mickey (minus the sorcerer apparel) appearing at the bottom of the mountain instead. This is a bummer and just one of many technical problems that…

New Menus at 50s Prime Time Cafe & Sci Fi Dine In Theater
No more having to compare lunch and dinner menus before making dining reservations at 50s Prime Time Cafe or Sci Fi Dine In Theater at Disney's Hollywood Studios- Both restaurants have tossed out the old lunch and dinner menus in favor of an all day option. I looked over the new 50s Prime Time menu here and I like it. Sometimes a sit down lunch would be a better…

Park Hopping at Walt Disney World
The age old question is "To hop or not to hop?" We've been debating the Disney hoppers for years. Some families (ours) purchase a hopper for every single trip. Regardless. We are the type that must get every minute of magic in and if that means we hop from park to park so be it. Other families (families that I also consider to be Disney experts) never hop. They prefer to focus on one park per day. Period. There is no right or wrong answer. I think it is simply a matter of preference, time of…

Taking a Baby to Disney World?
Aaron was 18 months old on his first trip to the World. No, he doesn't remember it- but we do. We remember his eyes lighting up at the sights and sounds in the Magic Kingdom. We remember seeing him lean out of his stroller so he could see what was coming next in the parade. We remember taking him to the barber shop and getting his picture made with the "First Haircut" mouse ears. We remember that it really wasn't his first haircut. He squealed on many attractions like Dumbo, Its a Small…
