{Giveaway} Custom Food Allergy Alert Stickers + Labels
One of the things that I’ve found to be the most helpful around our house is labeling our food so babysitters, grandparents and even my little men can easily recognize what’s a “safe” food and what’s “unsafe.”
Here are some AWESOME…

A Little (maybe a lot) About Kay!
New year seemed a good time to post this here =)
This is pretty long, so.... I bolded the main points. You can skim through and get the general idea by just reading the bold words- if you aren't inclined to read the whole thing ;-)

I'm a semi crunchy stay at home wife and mama of two…

C is for cookie. It's good enough for me.

Catherine and I put the new oven through its paces today and the result is a house that smells like heaven.
With the church youth group potluck tomorrow, we offered to bring two batches of cookies and that meant hitting the kitchen.
We never buy bakery…

Food allergies are so prevalent, something must be done to protect our health, our children and our way of life. In America, we have freedom of choice. With food allergies, we lose that freedom to choose (what we can eat). Without pointing a finger, I want to offer a way to bring back our most precious freedom, freedom of choice.
Food allergies are continually misunderstood. What makes a food suddenly deadly, for some people…

Food Allergies and IgE RAST Testing
If you suspect you or your child(ren) have one or more food allergies, an allergist may recommend a IgE RAST test to confirm whether the suspect symptoms are true food allergies.
If your allergist determines your suspect symptoms are a sign of a true food allergy, your allergist will decide…

Facing Childhood Allergies for the Recently Diagnosed
I have lived with environmental allergies my entire life. From pet allergies to dust allergies, even pollens and grasses allergy symptoms stuck around and I never put too much thought. But when my daughter was diagnosed with moderate to severe allergic disease my outlook changed completely! For her allergy symptoms involved swelling, painful rashes and asthma attacks that were anything but controlled.
For a parent I can’t think of anything more emotionally draining than watching our…

Living Gluten Free
I received some surprising news recently. My doctor ran some blood tests to check for allergies and it turns out, I’m gluten intolerant. I thought the results might reveal a mild intolerance to a spice or some food that would be easy to avoid, but gluten? Never would have guessed. I’m surprised because I wasn’t having severe reactions or feeling sick. Once in a while I’d have mild discomfort and once in a great while I would get a bad stomach ache but nothing major. Severe food…

Cold Weather on the Farm and in the Kitchen
I have now officially started feeding my goats in the evening. For the past two days, I have been bombarded by guineas and chickens when I feed them in the morning. It’s ridiculous, aren’t they supposed to be
afraid of me? Therefore, I am changing
it up. The milk goats will be fed in the
evening when the birds go to roost, and I will continue to throw their corn out
in the…

Allergy Free Kitchen Chicken
I am so much more comfortable in my kitchen. Those first few months were really tough! It’s great to make the leap and make your
kitchen an allergy free kitchen; catered to your food allergies. The only food with allergies are the few
goodies my son really enjoys. The rest
of the time, the only ingredients I have to choose from are those the entire
family can enjoy. It’s wonderful…

Snacks through the Holidays
‘Tis the season for the busy holidays! We always have something going on, whether we are participating in holiday events
around town, school activities, or family visiting for the holidays. As a parent, I have to make sure I keep quick
snacks on hand that are flexible and easy to keep handy. One item I always keep on hand is
granola. I keep it in a huge glass jar
in the kitchen,…

A Different Kinda Pumpkin Recipe
I have come up with a great recipe of meatballs with pumpkin puree, believe it or not. They are incredibly yummy and very
tender. I came upon this recipe because
I had just enough pumpkin puree leftover to make something really yummy, but
not enough to warrant keeping. This
particular day, my husband and son were gone deer hunting while my daughter and
I spent some quality…

A super simple dessert
Beginning our allergy free lifestyle a few months ago made for some of our more traditional dishes being deleted for a while.
Not for good, but for a while!
Our Kentucky-style dessert menu contains a lot of pies and my favorite,
bread pudding. I wanted to conquer a new
dessert for my family yesterday, and…
