It’s that time of year again.  The leaves are turning, the temperature is falling, and the over commercialization of the pink ribbon has started.

Yes…it is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, that time of year when every product in Walmart, Target, and the grocery stores decorate their packaging with a pink…

It always seems to start with a phone call.

This time the call came during dinner preparation, a pot roast simmering in the oven with a pile of carrots and potatoes to peel.  As the phone rang, I glanced distractedly at the caller ID.  I didn’t want to answer.  I didn’t want to answer because I had carrot juice on my hands.  I didn’t want to answer because I knew who was calling.

Yesterday was a great day.  The sun was shining, the temperatures were playing in the 70’s, I engaged in a little topless driving, and I was writing funny stuff for my blog.  Then in the middle of writing Cottage Cheese and Rolling Pins, I got a phone call.  I glanced at the caller id, and since I didn’t recognize the number, I didn’t answer.
