Does your car need some tender loving care? Have your kids helped trashed your car? If you have kids, you probably are already aware of how much stuff tends to accumulate in the car and if you are a new parent, here is what you can look forward to in the future. I know that if I went out to the car right…Continue
We had planned a nice little outing to Erlangen today. Richard wanted to buy a new music stand since his old one has gone missing after the last concert; we wanted to look for a new pair of shoes for Lily and pick up some groceries on the way home. On the way, we stopped really quick at the corner store to drop off a letter at the post office. I got back in the car and.. nothing. I tried a couple more times but still just a clicking from the engin starter and flickering from the dash board…Continue

We went to look at cars yesterday. We decided to ask Ms. Meagan to watch the girls because we wanted to test drive a few vehicles and gather some information about what we liked and what we didn't and it's just too hard to get the girls in and out…Continue

I never thought I would say this in a million years, but I want a minivan, aka "Swagger Wagon". I always thoughts minvans were for the moms with the jeans that fitted over the belly button. The moms with the stickers on the back of their cars that showed the stick figures of every person, pet, house plant that lives in their household.
But minivans rock it these days. I mean, how cool is it that you can press a button and the door of your car opens right in front of you, hands free.…Continue

This is a post that I wrote for the site that my husband and I have together called Climb Into Power.
Just a quick back ground, but Climb Into Power was created from the culmination of many things.
Over the past few years, as you may already know from previous posts, I left my career to become a stay at home mom and to take the time to learn to live with my Autoimmune disease. At the same time…Continue

We were elated to make it through our first soccer season with a crazy amount of practices and games each week (14). We wouldn’t have been able to do it on our own, but luckily car pools came together after a month for the two club soccer teams my girls joined. Still, there were challenges in setting up a car pool. Luckily a friend turned me on to Jooners, an …Continue

This week we did the unthinkable.
We were warned against it by many other veteran parents, but we didn't listen. Nope. Instead, we packed the kids in the car and drove 400 miles to San Francisco to visit grandma and grandpa.
It may not seem like much to some, but for those of you that have done it, you know that this is no easy feat.
A road trip with just two people is hard enough. I have been known to pack the entire trunk full during the days that it was just me and…Continue

Anyone that has traveled with children knows that one of the main hurdles to keeping things running smoothly is conquering the time in the car during a long road trip. It can be frustrating for everyone to be cooped up for several hours in the same seat.
In an earlier post, I linked to a great blog featuring excellent car trip activities. …

On Sunday morning I woke up before my family. I snuck down the stairs to enjoy a few rare moments of solitude. I brewed a pot of coffee and was all set to sit on the porch and enjoy the early morning. I opened the refrigerator to add the milk to my coffee. Are you serious? No milk. No half and half. Nothing to put in my coffee. That is just plain wrong.
Ok, it's 6:30. I slip into my vehicle and head off to the grocery store. I stop off to grab a coffee en route to help…Continue

Last Christmas we bought Eli a remote control car. Juan and I were quite impressed with our gift giving and the fact that we even found it on sale. We practically strutted about the crowded department store with our brilliant find.
Eli played with it for 3 minutes.
This car has sat in the corner of some toy bucket since then. A few days ago, he dug it out of the toy bucket wide eyed and excited. I showed him that not only did it look cool, but it makes…Continue

I was the typical stereotypical girl in school. I excelled in English, Writing, Reading and Art, and failed miserably at Science, Math (I still count using my fingers, no joke) and all things that required analytical skills. So it was not possible for me to ever have considered a career as an inventor. However, if I were to suddenly be able to figure out what 8 times 9 is without having to think for an extra few seconds, I would love to create new inventions that would be helpful in my…Continue

I remember taking our first family vacation when Mason was about 3 months old. I remember thinking "how on earth am I going to travel with 3 kids!" My husband and I were nervous about taking our kids on a flight for the first time and not knowing what to expect. But after traveling both by plane and by car (we have since gone to Indiana twice and to North Carolina), I have…Continue
