Since I am actually a girl, the best thing about Action Man (or GI Joe if you're from across the Pond) during my childhood was that I could use him to simulate dolly snogging with my
Cindy.
This was useful in as far as it went, but he was a little too big to start copulating with my Pippa dolls. I mean,…

I hope you haven't come here for mind-blowing super-macro photography this week, chaps. You may be disappointed. This is an in-depth delve into the social history of Clackers. Homage to 1971. You are most welcome.
Or, if you are from the US, Klackers.
Or, if you hail from Germany,
Or, if you are from some Eastern European place ending in 'grad', Popper-Knockers…

55 years ago this week, my parents were married.
Each and every March these annual events passed, unnoticed and unmarked by we children.
There was never a fuss over celebrating the event. I have a vague recollection that my Dad used to buy Mum a piece of …

Having paid homage to your (and my) Grandparents last week, I thought we'd trot a little further down the Lane of Memory this week with some literary indulgence.

I just wanted to take a moment to wallow in the unique feeling of Mother Love.

Look, if I'm going to be totally honest with you about this, then there were more than three.
But in case anyone I actually knew in 1978 is tuning in (unlikely, since no one who knows me would imagine there to be any items of remote interest in my past …

My Millennium baby.
What a ruddy stupid time to be pregnant. Whilst everyone else in the entire Universe was out partying to the event of a lifetime which only comes around every 26 generations or so, I was 8 months pregnant, watching the fireworks from my bedroom window, in my over-sized pyjamas (since I was indeed, oversized).
I wouldn't trade it for the world. Look what I got.…

Last week in the series, we discussed your earliest school work. Less 'things', more 'people' from our lives this week.....
I have met an awful lot of people in my life and there are only a handful that I would put in the definite 'not friends' category (thankfully), but there are an equally small…

Last week in the series we looked at your old school portraits. I apologise for saying this, but quite frankly some were just nasty!
This week we are taking a look at the primitive works which we crafted when we were in short trousers.
This particular piece (penned by Yours Truly at about the aged of 6) makes the very highly skilled observation that 'ladie black birds are…
