Blessed Maundy Thursday!
You know it is funny...this time last year I had no idea what Maundy Thursday even was. Even today, I still have much to learn. You see my family only started attending church in October of 2011, before then I really had no interest in going. The hubby and I had decided about a month before that we were going to home-school lil man and lil miss, using the Christian based Abeka program. Not that church was a requirement for using the program, but I knew that they would be learning…

Starting Over

This is the 14th post of a series. I started out telling a chronological story, but got derailed before I could get past August of 2012. I've addressed the derailing tangent to death. My intention with this post was to get back on topic, but it appears I'm not quite ready to do that. (If you need to catch up or review, CLICK HERE to view a page listing all the posts in the…

Our sermons at church this month have been about prophecy and the possibility that the end times are near. In our small group, we often discuss how this will affect our children. The general feeling that comes through is fear. Fear that our kids will be living in particularly difficult times in the world. Fear that they won't have a chance to grow in their faith before they're faced with some serious spiritual decisions. And fear that we're not going to get as much time with them as we would…

Our First Six Months of Marriage
My mouth in the beginning of our marriage was nasty as hell. There wasn't a curse word in the dictionary that did not come out of my mouth on a routine basis when I spoke at my husband. "They sharpen their tongues like swords and aim cruel words like deadly arrows (Psm. 64:3)."
We did not have normal pleasant conversations. We were not pleasant to one another because we honestly did…

A Child So Few Can Understand.
The horrific events that took place in Connecticut last week have shocked the world. The thought of someone going into a school and killing innocent children in cold blood is so much more than we can fathom.
Just as frightening is the reaction of so many people toward the killer. So many people wishing his eternal damnation. Being an avid internet user, I learned long ago how cruel people could get and I have chosen to ignore the hatred and anger…

About 2:00 am I woke up coughing, For the last several days I've had the worst dry cough, residual from that nasty flu I had last week I'm sure. The flu, the gift that just keeps on giving. I got up went to the rest, grabbed a glass of water. J woke up when I got back in bed and…

When ADD Goes Into Hyper-drive
Another Sunday. Another day of rambling. This time it was me, in a state of over-tired delirium writing random thoughts onto my bulletin as they popped into my mind.
I began by taking notes during the sermon. Note? Yes. More like note. I only wrote one sentence before my train of thought was derailed and never quite got back on track.
You see, I had gotten to sleep at around midnight. I figured since we…

The Power of a Hymn
As I sit here with tears in my eyes, I hear the lyrics to Near the Cross playing in the background. These hymns have brought to my memory the days of walking from Church to my grandmothers house 3 doors down.
On Sundays, I would walk to church from my apartment. I lived only a 10 minute walk from church and my grandmothers house. Sunday memories fill my head as I would enter this old country Baptist church, where a substantial amount of my family attended.…

Why I love my new church family!
Aidan and I have found a new church. We've been going for a little over a month now. He and I go to church alone, due to Nick's work schedule, and the fact that Nick is Catholic, and I am not. That's neither here, nor there. I picked New Song Assembly of God to try one random Sunday morning. I wasn't really sure if it would be something I liked or not. Turns out I don't like it. I love it. From the moment I walked in with my little man, everyone has been SO welcoming…

Quick breakfast in Trastevere
Last saturday morning I went downstairs to walk little dog Cicco (pronunciation: Cheekko).
I normally just go around the block during these last weeks of pregnancy.
The heat is too much for me to walk a lot.
My belly is heavy and I easily get out of breath.
Anyway,
we started by walking along the church downstairs:…
