Welcome to another installment of Friday Favorites! Here, you’ll find three items that help my family in our quest to be green and healthy.
Let There Be Light
Since most of the United States has switched over to Daylight Savings Time, we can expect to enjoy more hours of sunshine each day. This is great news for those wanting to soak up more Vitamin D and chase those nasty Winter Blues away. However, it’s still necessary to use light bulbs around the…Continue

Where I live being "green" is very important. Our community promotes being environmentally conscious everywhere you turn. I like to think that I do my part.... but I know I can improve leaps and bounds. I try and buy organic as much as I can afford. We use wax paper snack bags or reusable Tupperware and reusable water bottles. I had been cloth diapers for the first year of my son's life. Now I use decomposable disposable diapers. I also eat the leftover food off my kids plates, because it…Continue

I started making these fruit/energy bars for my older daughter who is an athlete and trains hard for part of the year. During that time, she relies heavily on "power bars" that she eats before or after practice. I decided to make my own healthy fruit bars as a way to save money and to ensure that my daughter is not consuming too much sugar.
My daughter absolutely loves these!

So to clear up some common misconceptions about wind energy and wind turbines, I took the time to interview the site manager at the local "wind farm" project (aka my hubby) to answer some of your possible questions.
Things that aren't true about wind turbines: they are…

Today has been much better. The Jellyfish is gone. Few joint problems. Going S.L.O.W, like oozing slime slow, and getting tired easily, but I'm far more functional than the past few days.
Jeez you guys. You should have heard me last night at parent teacher conference. It was like my brain kept refusing to acknowledge the existence of certain letters of the alphabet. For example, I tried to say "Scholastic" like for times as we headed to the post conference…Continue

Long before it was a song, the saying was a part of our conversation - and it's especially appropriate during February, the month of love:
Love makes the world go round.
With all this whirling, love can make you feel off balance and dizzy. Sometimes it's tricky to keep your personal world turning without having it spin totally out of control. Although our focus is most often on romantic love,…

It's the new year and my house is still not cleaned, my closet is still a mess, my resolutions are not written, and my energy is on vacation. A while back, I purchased three prenatal workout DVDs with the intention of working out daily to stay fit and keep my muscles loose. I did them for a while, but once I hit my third trimester, it has been very difficult to work up the energy to work out. I often put on my workout attire and then end up sitting on the couch for a while, unable to work up enough…Continue
