Strawberries. Keep it simple.
A little whipped cream. A dip in chocolate. Or, my favorite, strawberries with a splash of balsamic vinegar.Continue

Strawberries at this time of year are little weapons of seduction.
May I explain?
Throughout the year we eat strawberries... strawberries that look good, but really only taste, well, okay. But we buy them anyway, because they remind us of something bright and warm and wonderful, something hard to pinpoint, but something we desperately want to feel…Continue

I know that my son gets plenty of vitamins because he takes a fantastic supplement and I “hide” vegetables and fruits in just about everything (might have to do a post about that). But when it comes to eating fruits and vegetables in their natural state, it’s all about the “dip”.
He doesn’t like apple slices unless there is peanut butter involved. Forget about carrots if there is no ranch dressing. Salad? Better have some raspberry vinaigrette. I should be glad, I know but I…Continue

If my true love gave me Two Turtle Doves, I'd keep them as pets. I don’t know if I’d be able to cook them up… Mama’s not particularly fond of recipes featuring little birds (pigeons, quails, etc.).
However, I love Dove® chocolate, so this little romantic recipe will fit nicely into the…Continue

Take a moment to sit back and reflect on your life. Ask yourself these questions;
Am I a happy person the majority of the time?
Am I a positive influence on others?
Who or what are the positive influences in my life? (Family, friends, media, music)
To be honest I never really even considered a correlation between the people, media, music, etc. in my life and who I am as a person. Or the…Continue

Vonna asks: I recently read on the Internet that you can freeze a lemon and when you need it, take it out of the freezer and grate it... skin, seeds and all. No waste! Does this work? Can I use the grater on my food processor to do the same thing?
I’d never heard of this, Vonna, so I headed to the kitchen to test. …Continue

I started making these fruit/energy bars for my older daughter who is an athlete and trains hard for part of the year. During that time, she relies heavily on "power bars" that she eats before or after practice. I decided to make my own healthy fruit bars as a way to save money and to ensure that my daughter is not consuming too much sugar.
My daughter absolutely loves these!

You have miles to go before you sleep. You’d better get started. No time to relish in the fluorescent afterglow of deli department victory, to let the slap of each pack of meat as it hits the bottom of your cart congratulate you. Fifteen more aisles await your patronage and since you can’t break through the field of people with their forefingers pressed against the glass display case, in order to move on with your shopping you must back up with your cart, wind…Continue

What better way to ring in the new year than with a beautiful, healthy pork loin. Stuffed with fruit and with a touch of heat, this is a beautiful and delicious main dish. It's also not at all hard to make. You can view my entire review and the recipe for this roast on…Continue

I have struggled with fruit being free when Weight Watchers changed their program. That was no secret (I posted it on my facebook wall) I do support both programs and what works for one person my not work for another. When push comes to shove the bottom line still is calories and 130 calories for 45 grapes adds up...But, Weight Watchers later came out and said everything in moderation. A fellow foodie had gained weight and couldn't understand why. I asked them to email me her tracker…Continue

If you want to make a lasting memory for your children, go out and get them sticky and covered in scratches. No, seriously! Even if they don't remember the blackberries, they'll certainly remember the wounds.....
Whilst out walking the dogs this weekend I came across a single bush of wild raspberries. They were half-hidden in the bushes and fiercely guarded by giant nettles, but in my…Continue
