Before 'Tyn was born I couldn't smell much. Pretty lotions, decent perfumes, yummy food on the stove. Yeah basic smells. Then he came along and some how my nose was replaced with the dog catcher of all noses. I smell EVERYTHING! From sweat to laundry soap 3 rooms away to the oil on the floor in the garage.
It is never ending.…Continue

Why does Apple make an amazing machine aka MacBook Pro but yet creates such a piece of crap charger? Saturday night my charger bit the dust. Yesterday morning I got up with the intentions of grabbing a new one, but I forgot one important detail! I live in a super small "hole in the wall" town and none of the stores are…Continue

I remember the day vividly. My brother and I had come home from school to find my dad cooking dinner in the kitchen. This was a completely foreign concept to me because in all of my 10 years on the planet, I had never seen a man (except for Mel on the show Alice) cook before.
There was a chocolate, lopsided cake on the table with one loan pink candle in it that looked…Continue

I was reading a post this morning by a fellow blogger who was talking about how much she really hates her first name. At first, I couldn't understand the depth by which she hates her name. To me, her name sounds very worldly and exotic. But the more I think about it, the more I get it now. Your first name is very personal and it's something you carry around with you for a long time. And the kicker is that you don't have any…Continue

I am not going to pretend you remember me.
I am not going to pretend that you should remember me.
It's been a while.
A long while.
And I kept saying "I'm back!"
I wasn't back.
And I have no excuse.
I was kind of all set with blogging for a while.
Don't get me wrong, there was plenty to write about.
I'd be out and about watching some sort of ridiculousness going on, thinking the…

My initiation into the mom scene was a bit different than most. It wasn’t until after I had spent a few years helping to raise my step-kids that my son was born. I wasn’t going to be able to bond with these kids while changing diapers or teaching them their ABC’s or snuggling with them at bedtime. This was…Continue

Welcome to the weekend wrap-up! I hope you have some fun and some rest scheduled into your weekend! We have kind of a quiet weekend going on here, but I’m glad for that. Next week our middle guy starts 2 weeks of Occupational Therapy, where we’ll take him Monday-Friday for two hours/day, in addition to his regular therapy (and of course, in addition to regular life).…Continue

My house is a funny backwards place where my daughter is the hardcore comic book fan, not the boys. Sure, the boys like superheroes, but not the way she does. We got into a conversation yesterday about superhero powers, and she vehemently insisted that X-Men do not count as superheroes because they have “mutant powers.” Well, I don’t know about you, but I think having retractable claws is a pretty super power. Unfortunately I can’t really think of a…Continue

So yesterday I took the entire day off to hang out with my son, who is not quite 14. I told him that we could do whatever he wanted to do - the day belonged to him. He said he wanted to go out to lunch. I figured as much. He also wanted to check out the latest "G.I. Joe" movie. That would not have been my first choice, but what the heck. It was his day after all and there were cute guys and some fighting and car chases. I could roll with that. But I was more than a little…Continue

Sometimes, I fall to the couch exhausted after finally getting both kids to sleep and I wonder...
Does anyone else’s toddler:
Insist on staying in the bath until every last drop of water has gone down the drain, and sometimes even after?? Seriously, you’re shivering and your lips are blue; what fun could you possibly be having? I have no idea what appeal a cold, hard, damp, bathtub could hold over the, warm, fluffy towel I am lovingly offering you. Yet, there you lie,…Continue
