Health Care Reform Takes Effect In 2014
What Does This Mean For You NOW?
When the Affordable Care Act was introduced, it seemed like a good idea. Healthcare costs were escalating faster than inflation. People with pre-existing conditions found it difficult to get coverage. Preventative care wasn't used for early detection the way it was intended due to cost. 30 million people were uninsured and sometimes weren't able to cover the cost of…

Does this sound like someone you may know - whether it is you or a friend? Below is an example of a call I am getting on a weekly basis from moms and wives about health insurance.
Phone rings and I answer: Hello this is Dr. Taffy
Caller: Dr. Taffy, my husband is employed at XYZ company and he has insurance; however, the kids and I are not on the insurance. One of my friends told me that you have a solution for affordable healthcare. Can you…Continue

If you follow me on Facebook you know I was a basket case on Christmas Eve because our health insurance decided Tiara didn’t need 4 pills of Vimpat each day, but only 2, so they denied the pre-authorization and I was unable to get her medicine. Why even have health insurance?
Vimpat is one of her 5 seizure medications. She needs her medicine…Continue

People tell me all the time " Your The Strongest Person I Know" and I don't feel very strong. I have only had to do what I have had to do in situations that were beyond my control. I wouldn't wish any of those situations on anyone.
Today I feel weak and in a lot of pain, but I am still blogging, because that is what I do. I know there is someone else out there today that may relate to not feeling it, and…Continue

Summer is in full swing and it's time to rock the boat! Boaters love this time of year. Daylight hours are longer, there's always a reason to get friends together and head out on your boat for a day of fun and
enjoyment. Don't forget the sunscreen, some good food, your fishing gear
and the music that makes you think of sun and fun. Lots of people like
to drop anchor and meet up with other boaters to swim,…

Just got off the phone with my health insurance provider. Trying to get them to pay *their share* of the homebirth. You know, the one I discussed with them a year ago. The one they agreed to pay 80% of. Well,
let’s just say I’m having trouble calling them a “provider.” They cut a
check for less than 40% of the homebirth.

You give a whole lot of what you have…Continue
Hubby sliced his thumb open last night prepping ears of corn to throw on the grill. He cut it at an angle from the top down through the middle of his thumb nail.
He called me after he did it and I was still 45 minutes from getting home after picking up both the kids. He’s so hard headed, I knew he was going to resist going to the emergency room – which is why he now has a deep Harry Potter style scar dead square between his eyes after refusing to get stitches from busting it…Continue
