Gadget Tree: Take It Away!
Do you remember this?
Airplane food. We used to love to hate it.
These meals are a distant memory (thankfully)... at least in economy class, where Mama’s family sits. And, unless you’re lucky enough to be traveling through…

Silver Maple Magic
I recently spent a bit of my morning gathering small white stones to make a pathway for our resident gnome. We have an enormous silver maple in our front yard that I love. I appreciate it in even more so since, about 5 years back, we had what came to be called The October Surprise and were hit with a freak snow storm that....because the trees still had so many leaves on them....downed a great majority of the trees in this area. It was a huge storm....like no mail, no school for 5 days storm.…

excuse me, your crazy is showing...
I accompanied my youngest children to a 5-year-old's birthday party yesterday. This is not as dreadful as it sounds. The sun was shining. There was an excellent entertainer occupying the hoards of screeching children group of happy youngsters and there was plenty of tea and chilled white wine. (for the mums only I hasten to add!)
As the entertainer (wearing the inevitably wacky socks) sang, danced and told bum-related jokes a group of mums…

Summer Travel Can Require a Look at Your Family Dynamics
I am not sure that I understood the beauty of a travel plan before I had a blended family, but I know now how a little forethought and honesty about family dynamics can make a vacation so much smoother. With the summer fast approaching I thought I would share some of what we do in our family to see if it helps…

Packing Lightly? What a laugh!
When you have a baby you need to bring all the things a baby would need with you. Bottles, nappies, change of clothes with many options depending on the weather, medicine, cream and the list continues. If you have more than one baby, which we did it does feel like you are packing to never to return to your house ever again, this of course is due to the large amount of stuff that is needed.
Upon talking with my cousin who has recently had twin boys last year she is dealing with the…

But I Wanted Wiener Wraps and Tator Tots!!
My initiation into the mom scene was a bit different than most. It wasn’t until after I had spent a few years helping to raise my step-kids that my son was born. I wasn’t going to be able to bond with these kids while changing diapers or teaching them their ABC’s or snuggling with them at bedtime. This was…

Where are my shopping soirees?
Back when we were single and unencumbered (you know what I mean, right?), we so looked forward to what we endearingly called our shopping soirees or retail therapy or window shopping (wow, I almost forgot that term)! Back then, shopping was for fun. I was a lone shopper and didn't really need company to go shopping for hours on end. There was enough time to leisurely try on as much as I wanted...you…
