Judgmental Mommy
Cloth Diapers or Store Bought Diapers?
Breastfeed or Bottle Feed?
Delay Vaccines or give vaccines?
I never realized it before I was a parent myself, but there are a LOTof judgments out there being passed on moms. If we give our kids too much attention, we’re considered “psycho attachment parenting advocates” who baby their children for too long, but if we don’t give our kids just the right amount of attention, we are…

As I was darting to my car to head to a doctor’s appointment that I was already late for, I glanced over and noticed a car running idly at the corner of my road. Curious and not willing to ignore it just because of time constraints, I pulled out of my driveway and peeked into the window and saw a young blonde-haired woman gesturing feverishly with her hands. She looked really distraught, so I motioned for her to pull up alongside my car so I could get to the bottom of…

I Owe my Future (and my Career!) to my Son
When I met my husband in August 2008, I was getting ready to apply for scholarships and grants to go to Nursing School. I was working in a hospital, and for the most part, I enjoyed what I did. Sure, I cleaned a lot of poo (but then again, I clean a lot of poo now as a mom…so there’s no real difference) but the interactions with the patients and their families made me appreciate my position in the hospital. So nursing, just seemed like the route to go, career wise.
Fast-forward three…

In HIS time...
It seems like my son is constantly changing. He changes his mind, he changes his clothes, he changes his hobbies and his likes/dislikes… it’s nearly impossible for me to keep up with him. It seems like every time I get one tiny aspect of his little personality figured out, he changes again.
I had an epiphany moment the other day (and no, I’m not referring to the fabulous …

What we take from Childhood
As I’ve gotten wiser older, I’ve really come to realize the impact that our childhood has on our adult life. I recognize that childhood is extremely important; and as parents we always talk about how big of an impact it has on how our kids turn out. Lately I’ve done some soul searching of my own, and I’ve picked up on a few things about myself that are a direct result of my childhood.

I Didn't Want My Husband
Being 17 and fresh out of high school, the entire world seems like your canvas.
Big dreams.
Big ambitions.
The desire to go places, see things, and do more than anyone else ever imagined you could.
At least, that’s the mentality I was in when I graduated from high school.
You get stopped by people on the street (keep in mind I grew up in a tiny town where everyone knew everyone) and asked what do you want to be when you grow…

Timing isn't perfect
I realized after writing this post last week, that I was a bit on the negative side. I talked a whole lot about the con’s of having another baby, why a child wouldn’t fit into “our” plans perfectly, and so on. I talked about all of the typical reason’s someone would say that they weren’t ready for another baby, and then I talked about the few reason’s people “ooh” and “ahh” over infants in the first place.
What I didn’t do, was address the reasons why a new baby would fit into…

Questions with no answers
My baby Giulia is due sometimes around June the 15th.
Maybe even before that.
Obviously we are all very excited about this.
I am also scared to death…but I don’t want to think about it.
The entire family is looking forward to the event (even though my husband will have to give up the upcoming Foo Fighters concert… – Giulia has already something to be forgiven for).
Me, Husband, grandparents, aunts and (I like to believe) our two dogs…
While…

Toxic People
I remember when I was in high school, there was a girl in our class who was just never pacified. It didn’t matter what she had bought, where she had been, who she was dating…she was just miserable. She complained about something every. single. day. Needless to say, she had very few friends, and no one really liked to be around her.
In college, there was a girl in a rival sorority who was just all around negative. It didn’t matter what anyone did, what…

Happy Eruption Day, Mt. Saint Helens!
Today marks the 31st anniversary of when Mt. St. Helens rocked the world (or at least a small portion of it) with its fantastic eruption. As Wikipedia tells it:

Open the window.
Can you feel the air?
Breathe in …. now breathe out.
Can you feel the freshness?
Can you feel your lungs expanding to absorb that powerful source of life?
How does it feel?
Aren’t you grateful for the air you breathe?
Did you know that daily gratitude exercises can help you increase your levels of enthusiasm, determination, optimism and energy?
Did you know that people who feel grateful are more likely to feel…
