For Mother's Day: A Letter to My Children
For Mother's Day: A Letter to My Children
Being a mother is the most challenging, and rewarding, experience of my life. You have taught me what it means to be unconditionally loved, how to unconditionally love another, to want something better for someone else than what I want for myself, and helped me understand who I am in ways I don’t know that I would have ever…

Silver Maple Magic
I recently spent a bit of my morning gathering small white stones to make a pathway for our resident gnome. We have an enormous silver maple in our front yard that I love. I appreciate it in even more so since, about 5 years back, we had what came to be called The October Surprise and were hit with a freak snow storm that....because the trees still had so many leaves on them....downed a great majority of the trees in this area. It was a huge storm....like no mail, no school for 5 days storm.…

Surprise Mom With A Mother’s Day Ring – Learn Why She Wants One
Do you want to give the mother in your life a mother’s ring? A mother’s ring is a great piece of jewelry that displays each of her child’s birthstone and make a great surprise gift. A birthstone can represent a child that is living or one that has passed on. I know that mom’s around the world long to have a mothers ring at some point in their lifetime so that they can remember their child each time they look down at their hand.

How to Handle Biting in Young Children (By Stacy Hladek)
I recently spent an afternoon with a good friend, who has a toddler. While we were talking about parenting she told me her son has started biting his baby brother. My friend said nothing she or her husband had tried is working. Her son bit another child at childcare this week for the first time
Biting is a behavior that many toddlers display at one time or another. It can be something that makes the adults feel frustrated and helpless. There is hope!
Whenever a child is…

Take a Moment...
Life is full of what ifs and questions but the beauty of that is finding out the answers. Even if we don't find out the answers we want, we still continue to live. The sad part about most of our lives is that we live them too much in the fear of criticism and scrutiny. If we take a…

Why Moms Can't Get Sick
There should be a law against mothers getting sick.
A law of nature. Of our biological composition. So that from the second we commence our 24-hour-a-day vocation of raising children from scary 104-feverish infants through whining-hormonal teenage years, we never experience a single lapse in energy.
Because this is what happens when Mommy actually gets sick and may lounge around on the living room lounge all day:
She neglects to inspect the bathroom for…

The time has come

After a year and two months of maternity leave, on Monday morning, I will be going back to work. It's a scary feeling. I am both excited and terrified. No denying, it's time for me to join the work force again and go back to proving myself on other fields as well. But on the other hand leaving my little girl is an almost unbearable thought. I just tucked her in for her afternoon nap and wondered how in two days someone else will be doing that…

World Education Games 2013
I recently came across an article about World Education Games. It got me so interested I had to check out their website. Well, we are too young to participate since it's for students 4-18 years of age. But since it is an annual global online challenge, we'll maybe try it at some other…

Single Mothers and the Dilemma of Dating
Written by Tye Jiles
Before I married my husband, I was in this particular dilemma myself. I was raising two daughters on my own and was terrified of dating. I was never one to put myself out there and give men a chance. I was completely guarded and not up for the challenge of the “dance” (you know “what do you like to do?” and “what’s your favorite food?”) all that hoopla was draining to me. There was also the fact that meeting new people was not fun to me because I was very shy and…

Presenting ~ The WAHM Jobs Page!

I know…been there…done that…
It’s exhausting and sometimes, you can’t help but lose all hope of one day finding a job which you…

Keeping The Colds Away This Brrrr…Months
The weather is starting to get colder now here in Baguio City. It changed from sunny to windy and cold overnight. In other cities in the Philippines, I heard it has started to rain again even if the rainy season is supposed to be over.
When this cold temperature approaches, I expect my children to come home from school one day with…

BLTs for dinner tonight. In this heat, Basil didn’t want to grill and I couldn’t face cooking inside (and well, we are still oven-less).
A work-related phone call rendered the bacon a little extra, shall we say … crispy, but no matter. The sandwiches were delicious. Fresh…

Understanding A Teenager’s Brain
Some of you may know the TV show “The Doctors” aired on CBS.
I love watching it when I get the chance. I’m just a fan of medical shows which help common people like me understand complex medical terms and conditions and know how to apply their medical advises in real life.
One of their segments last week captured my attention the most because it involved understanding how different a teenager’s brain is from that of their parents and other adults.
This difference…
