What to Expect When Your Child May Be Getting Their Two Year Molars?

Today my youngest got to spend the day with me, he started running a low grade fever last night and acted like he didn’t feel very good.  I decided that is was best to keep him home from daycare so that he could get some extra rest while I monitored his fever.  It was nice being able to spend some one on one time with my baby.  We enjoyed the extra snuggles and cuddles, we watched a few of his favorite shows on TV, and spent some time …

For Mother's Day: A Letter to My Children

For Mother's Day: A Letter to My Children

Being a mother is the most challenging, and rewarding, experience of my life. You have taught me what it means to be unconditionally loved, how to unconditionally love another, to want something better for someone else than what I want for myself, and helped me understand who I am in ways I don’t know that I would have ever…

When Induction Becomes Necessary – 3 Popular Ways To Induce Labor

A pregnant mom often begins to feel as if she is going to be pregnant forever during those final weeks of pregnancy.  Most moms are miserable, are unable to get comfortable, and sleeping is often difficult due to being uncomfortable.  In fact, the closer you get to your due date the more anxious and nervous…

Band Together to Help a Friend

My wonderful friend that I met through play group is a caring, loving and just a clever lady. She volunteers her time, energy and money to do craft for the kids, help ladies learn to sew, knit and crochet. This special woman is such a wonderful resource and also a good mate.

If you thought that was it, well it is not. This lady also coordinates the local…

Hearing Aids Were an Epic Fail – My Daughter’s Story

I moved from Texas to North Carolina, when my daughter was almost 5 months old.  It took us about a month to get settled into our new home.  After we got settle it was time to begin determining what the next step was to correct my daughter’s hearing loss.  Being new to the area, I found that it was difficult to find providers who specialized in advanced hearing loss, especially, since we were  living in a small town.  The closest specialists who were able to deal with my daughter’s…

Failed Newborn Hearing Screening – My Daughter’s Story

Once I received news that my daughter failed her repeat newborn hearing screening, we were quickly referred to the local children’s hospital and to an ear, nose, and throat (ENT) doctor for further evaluation.  Things moved fairly quickly and my daughter was scheduled to have another type of hearing test to determine how much hearing loss she had so that they could determine what course of action that we needed to take.  The next hearing test was more extensive and my daughter had to…

Baby Mittens Help Keep your Newborn From Scratching Their Face

Does your newborn constantly have scratch marks on their face? As a mom, this used to drive me crazy because I didn’t want my beautiful babies face all scratched up. When my oldest son was a baby, I found these cute mittens that covered up his hands to keep him from scratching up his face even if I just spent the…

Why is it Important to Take Prenatal Vitamins While Pregnant or When Trying to Conceive?

Pregnancy can take a toll on a woman’s body; therefore, it is important that you take care of your unborn baby and your own body.  Prenatal vitamins are very important and help ensure that you are getting enough nutrients.  Make that you pick up the vitamins that your doctor has prescribed or has asked you to…

13 Signs that Your Toddler Is Ready to Start Potty Training

A few weeks ago, I decided that it was time to let my son pick out a potty seat.  We choose to get a potty seat that easily fits on the regular toilet, so that I wouldn’t have to retrain him to use the big potty once he had potty training down.  Besides that the daycare he attends also uses a potty seat…

Losing My Shit

I am 95% sure it is Kinsley's life mission to make me lose my shit and sanity in public. There is even a look in her eyes that says "come on mama. do it. do it. do it."

I've never felt like I was failing as a parent until this weekend when there was absolutely nothing I could do to make Kinsley listen to me. She had her own to-do list, her own set of plans, and her own way of doing things. I was ready to throw in the towel by noon.

If there was an attitude to be had about…

How Mcdonalds Playland saved me and my kids.

I’m a stay at home mom who could benefit from some serious therapy. But I’m frugal, so here are my top ten reasons why McDonald’s Playland helps me out when I’m ready to snap and do or say something I might regret later.
1.    It’s free.  I’ve been the parent saying “Eat your nuggets” through clenched teeth-they just want to play, so I skip the argument and feed them at home before we leave.
2.    Other people’s dysfunctional children make me feel like I’m a better…

My Pregnancy Today iPhone and Android App Review – My Favorite Pregnancy App

When I found out that I was pregnant with my third child, I immediately went to baby center to calculate my estimated due date.  Once I found out the estimated due date, I signed up for an account so that I could keep up with my baby’s weekly development.  At the time I had an iPhone, so I downloaded the baby center application called “My Pregnancy Today”.

Why Do Teenagers Steal? How Do I Handle My Teen if They Are Caught Stealing?

Parents have you ever received a call from mall security or the police department letting you know that they just caught your teenager stealing?  If so, you aren’t alone and you aren’t the first parent who has had to deal with this type of behavior.  It is important that you handle the situation in a calm and…

My Newborn Won’t Stop Crying: Witching Hour or Colic

My Booby No Worky :(

When I became pregnant, one of the things I looked forward to was repairing the relationship I had with my breasts. I've never been a fan of them. They are too small for my frame, the right one even smaller. PB likes 'em just fine, but I would trade them out for another pair in a second. I know it's silly, not to like parts of my body for the way they "look", but I'm a woman and we are taught that this hate has a sense of normalcy.

I thought that would change once I had my baby and I…

Hooked: How I Became an Escort at age 18

When I was 18 years old, I would hop into a sleek black private car around 11 pm every night. I’d wave my cigarette magically in the air and ask to be taken to the Soho Grande.  The driver would speed off into the dark, bustling night of New York City. Slumped down in the grey leather seat, I’d peer out over the side, so just my eyes were visible through the window. Bright flashing lights everywhere, blurring the images of the young college student’s advertising of the…

Summer's First New Year's Party in School

Summer, my daughter, woke up early without any fuss.  She can’t wait to wear her new dress from Pretty Ovo.  She had been wanting to wear that the whole week.  When we got to her school, she was even more excited because the usual austere classroom was now full of colorful Christmas decors,…
