My baby will be four years old next month and I am still carrying what I call baby fat. Don't get me wrong, I  am not officially overweight. It is just that my weight seems to accumulate in one place- my belly. Arrgh! This winter I am determined to get rid of the muffin. I am making a declaration. I am getting my skinny back!

When I was growing up my Papi would speak of Bretagne. He spent many holidays there with my grandmother and the region left an impression on him. My inheritance from him, and one I treasure, is a photograph he took of a dolmen in Carnac. It was a matter of time before I finally made it there.

As I enjoyed my days at the beach this summer I couldn’t help but think about what lies beneath the surface of the ocean. The beautiful sea life lives among what is known as The Great Pacific Garbage Patch, a vortex of debris in the center of the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre. It’s the largest oceanic garbage swirl spanning from California to Japan and runs 90 feet deep in some places. It’s estimated to be twice the size of Texas.
