Side Hustle: Paid Viewpoint - Money for Surveys

Paid Viewpoint is a great option for those wanting to earn money from surveys, but hate the task.

In my seemingly never ending search to find legitimate ways to earn extra money, I've come across many different methods. Many turned up to be flops or scams or were too hard just to be "side hustles" for the pennies you earned. But occasionally I come across something that is legit, simple and you earn actual money.

Survey taking has earned a collective hatred from many…

Things I've Learned This Week

I've compiled another one of my lists of things I've discovered lately.  And this week's list includes the sad realization that sitting next to the fittest person at the pool is like driving a clunker next to a Ferrari.  Click over to my blog to read…

Why Slumber Parties Scare Me

Kids and slumber parties seem as sweet and traditional as Mom’s apple pie and getting a tan while watching a baseball game, huh?

Blame it on Grease, or maybe personal experience, I’ve always assumed our girls would eventually age to the time when they would have sleep overs complete with giggles, pranks, and outrageous memories. (I’m not sure why I assumed this; every slumber party I attended as a youth involved games of “Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board,” scary stories,…

This is the Stuff That Drives Me Crazy!

This is the Stuff by Francesca Battistelli is one of my favorite songs right now and there is a reason why! It strikes a chord! Lost keys, running late, getting pulled over, we have all had these things happen before. The thing we should avoid is letting these things set the tone for the whole day!

Hey, I am preaching to…

How I Cut Back On Crazy

Every so often, and maybe a whole lot,  as a mom I have to stop and ask myself: “Who is driving this thing?”

Because I get caught up.

I get caught up in crazy.

If you’re a mom, I think you know exactly what I’m talking about and I don’t have to say another word!

But in case you’re not a mom, here’s what it means to get caught up in…

No Spring Chicken

From Puns Probably Intended:

Having or had a baby past the age of thirty-five? If so, you’re in good company. Several well-known (and lesser known) moms have given birth at an advanced maternal age. According to “Mothers 35 Plus,” this list includes the following:

  • Sarah Jessica Parker…

Bunk Beds - Sharing Space in Style

Looking to save on some space in your home? Bunk beds might be one of the best solutions of saving space, especially in your child’s room. Your kids get to share their room and spend more time together and they surely will love them as these types of beds are different and fun! Your studio apartment will become much more inviting and spacious if you choose to decorate it with a bunk bed. The entire sleeping experience will be more…

Forgotten Fathers: Men and Abortion

Research has always focused on abortion and women, while men have been legally, psychologically and medically forgotten. At a time when men are changing rolls and are becoming increasingly involved in the lives of their children, they are systematically denied the right to be involved in life-or-death decisions affecting their unborn children. This powerlessness takes its tole not only on the male self-image,…

3 Types of Moms Showcased in Elementary School Projects

from "Rediscovering Our Family" blog

It's time for the Reading Fair at my third grader's school.  I would like to be blase about this, but I have to face it, I just can't be.  Reading fairs, science fairs, social study fairs, all school fairs bring out the worst mom competitions because let's be honest, do the 8 year olds really care that much about their project?  No, but we do.  Well, some of us…

Virtual Reality

I don’t love exercise, but I accept the fact that it’s good for me, for all of us. Especially for us over-40 people. Not only does it help us control our weight and tone our body, exercise gets that heart pumping and makes us sweat out all that cholesterol, or something like that. Actually, I read recently that hard core exercise that elevates our body temperature may help to ‘melt’ the plaque in the brain that causes Alzheimer’s Disease. I’m all about that (my mom had Alzheimer’s), so I… Continue

To Blog or not to Blog...

Okay, I admit it. I'm a bad blogger. I admit this freely and openly. Do I like that fact that I have a lot to learn about blogging? No, but I'm improving. Do all bloggers go through this? Possibly. I go through it daily. Do I kick myself for it? Of course.

What am I going to do about it? Start blogging.

Let me tell you a little bit about me. I was overweight for a long time, 10 years to be exact. Why? Because I forgot about me. That's right, I was being a wife and mother, but…

Why I workout

I need the stress relief. Pure and simple. I love my Chalean Extreme because I like to lift weights. It makes me feel powerful. I love my muscles, and how clean sweating makes my body feel. Releasing toxins makes all the difference in my world.

Because I'm a homeschooler, military wife, have 3 girls (1 teen, a preteen, and a little one ), swim team practices, friends, a business to run, and I'm over 40 ( 42 to be exact ), I don't always know which way is up. So, I work out.…

The Crankiness Crusher: Winning Over Babushka.

During the walk of life, we encounter many individuals with lots of different personality types. Some are gregarious, while others are introverted. Some are generous, while others are selfish. And some people are warm and open-hearted, while others are less trusting and perpetually keep you at arm’s length.

Twelve years ago, I was introduced to a woman whose personality was pretty tough to read–and I was forewarned that she didn’t like most people. “A challenge!” I thought. This tough…

The Oprah Countdown. “O” for “O-NO!” Don’t Miss These Last Moments!

It's time.

And unless you've been under a rock, you know that it's Oprah Winfrey's Farewell Season. http://www.oprah.com/packages/farewell-season.html

But now, millions around the world -- instead of saying, "O for Oprah", many are saying, "O - OH-NO!"

After 25 years, Oprah Winfrey is set to say good-bye and dim the lights on her afternoon program. Don't miss the final moments - here's… Continue

A mother's Determination

From Hair to Eternity

My blog, "24 In My Mind", often provides beauty tips for the over-40 woman -things we can do (or not do) to look younger. It’s true, looks aren’t everything. You do need to be beautiful on the inside, too. But, there is a body-mind connection - how you look impacts how you feel - and having 'good hair' is one of the best ways to boost that youthful feeling. Here are some of my tips for 'young' hair:

1. Never let anyone over 30 cut your hair. Ok, now, before I get really nasty emails…

No Babies Allowed

I knew it was only a matter of time but I thought surely we'd make it longer than 5 months before hitting this stage. Oliver is a rolling machine. He rolls in all directions and sometimes even rolls himself into some precarious spots. Well when Oliver's rolling and Hanna's space collide the result is a custom made sign.
