Mini Apple Pie Cups
I love apple pie but either I can't find a crust that is dairy-free or call me lazy I really don't feel like making pie crust. I've done it in the past and probably will again in the future but I just can't get excited about making pie crust. So I guess you can say that I found a way to cheat but I prefer to call it portion control.
I was extremely happy to find out that Pepperidge Farms Puff Pastry is vegan so that means dairy-free!!! I was trying to come up with a good…

Plated + Served: Cherry Pie with Vodka Crust
Mama’s a sucker for canned cherry pie-filling.
Not all canned pie fillings, mind you, just cherry pie filling. Maybe it brings back memories. Or, perhaps, sometimes I just crave that sugar-smack tacky mouth feel that you get with canned pie…

Moroccan-Spiced "Knock-Off" Shepherd's Pie
Who doesn't like shepherd's pie?! I mean, even my (born and raised) Italian husband enjoys a good shepherd's pie every now and again! Unfortunately for him, this time around I only made enough for my son's lunch (and my husband ended up with his regular panino with mortadella!). Sorry, child comes first! ;-)
I guess you could say this is a "knock-off" version of shepherd's pie because it is deconstructed (meaning, it's not cooked in the traditional casserole dish), not baked in the…

Here is yet another list of whacky things I've learned lately. Included this time is the realization that the world would be a happier place if everyone ate Thanksgiving dinner in their pajamas. Click over to my blog for the full list:…

Fall Baking mmm.. can't you smell the apples, cinnimon, pumpkin pie?
The only good thing about being stuck home with sick kids for two weeks is that I had time to bake! I cook almost every day, but only quick meals. It has to be healthy and well balanced, but I am a huge fan of 30 minute meals (give or…

Banana Cream Pie
I have a weird relationship with bananas. Don't get me wrong, I love them, but I like them when they're under ripe. That almost yellow colour but still a bit green. Frankenstein bananas FTW! If they're a tad overripe, I won't eat them. It's just how I roll.
So when I made this […

Cherry Pie
Cherry Pie
I'll admit that I may have or may have not sang Cherry Pie by Warrant the entire time I made this pie. I couldn't help myself, it needed to be done.
I had a crazy time making this cherry pie. First of all, I thought I had a cherry pitter. Turns out I done own such a gadget… yet. Do you know..…

I have a confession to make.
Right then, on with it.
Ahem…remember that this does not make me less Canadian.
And I’m a good person.
Don’t judge me.
I don’t like pumpkin pie.
I can’t be the only one. There are others like me out there, hiding in the corners, afraid to admit this very un-Canadian, un-American trait. We need to stand united and demand a better option.
It’s the texture *shudder*. And the lack of any flavours other than the…

Easy and Delicious Pear Pie
I made a pear pie last night. Very yummy and Very easy!
This pie has a layer of custard under the sliced pears.
Almond extract is in the custard, and it complements the pear flavor so well.
I used Bartlett pears, and they were still not quite ripe. I think pear pie is better when the pear is not super soft yet.
When the pears are placed on the custard and cooked in the oven, they become perfectly soft for the pie.
Just love this recipe.
Here’s how…

Semi-homemade Chicken Pot Pie
I don’t know about you but I LOVE recipes that are tasty and quick! This particular recipe has been in our family for years. I have no idea where it came from and I’m sure it’s out on the web somewhere, but it’s a fast favorite at our home! I call it semi-homemade because I use ready-to-use products, including the pie crusts, so all I have to do is mix, pour and bake! So, here it goes:…

Pumpkin Pie Spice French Toast
