Are Boy Teachers Real, Mom? (Male Teachers In Preschool)
This is the question my son asked me as I was driving him home from school yesterday. My first reaction was to laugh, "Yes! Boy teachers exist, Max!" I did not laugh when he calmly replied, "Well I've never seen them, but I've seen a lot of girl teachers."
He is right. Do male teachers exist in…

Tot-School Tuesday: Choosing our Reading Materials
Each week our lessons are based on a Bible Story. The main and most important materials we use in our Tot-School are Bibles/Bible Storybooks. This is how we choose which to use and how!

My Five Year Old Son Is Sexist!
Let me start off by saying that I grew up in an extremely matriarchal family. I was raised by a single mother who took on every role. She was both mother and father. She held a full-time job and taught me the value of a good education and strong work ethic. As a little girl I rarely pretended I was in a wedding (in fact, I do not think I ever did) and when I played with my Barbie dolls I always sent them off to work. I never owned a Ken doll.
Do I think of myself as this super…

I cannot be the only one…who noticed that immediately after their child started preschool the potty talk meter busted through the roof and the coughs and sniffles increased ten fold. This is why when I read in the news this morning that the flu season has not only arrived early but the amount of flu suffers is unrivaled from those who have suffered the aches and pains of the flu seasons of yesteryear. These reports put me on edge, I wring my freshly sanitized hands and wonder when…

On Being a Preschool Mommy
You can find this post on my blog: http://yourhealthyhappylife.blogspot.com/2012/12/on-being-preschool-mommy.html
Our oldest (4 years) has been going to a wonderful church preschool for the past two years. We love it and so does he. You know they're doing something right when he asks if he can go to school!
Anyway, I'm not friends with any of the moms in his class. We…

Germies and Chicken Noodle Soup
It's inevitable. I mean, preschool equals little kids. Little kids equals runny noses and unwashed hands. Runny noses and unwashed hands OBVIOUSLY equals germies. At least, if you ask Logan, that's how the math works. This morning he woke up with one of those cold-type-voices. You know, the scratchy-but-cute hoarse sounding voices. In his own scratchy-but-cute voice he told me:

Transitioning Back to School Schedule
Am I the only mom who let our schedule grow lax over the summer? Now that school is getting ready to start, I need to make sure my preschooler's sleep schedule will be set so he can get up early enough for his very first year of school...
So I'm working on transitioning back to the school schedule for him. Here's how I do it, I'd love to hear your advice and experience!

A reader asked me to help her round out her list of books for incoming Preschoolers. I searched, and there are not tons of them. I decided to combine this with entering Kindergarten because in September, my youngest child will start Kindergarten. I feel that you can use the books…

Recycled Art Kit with Mini-Me Appliqué
Since classes in Philippines coincide with the rainiest and stormiest months of the year, hubby and I declare our own "no class days" when the rains are especially bad. We feel that its better for our preschooler to stay at home than risk her getting sick while battling the elements.
To keep ourselves entertained while learning at the same time, we usually do a bit of…

Jersey Shore, The Extreme Preschool Edition
G. T. L. Baby! Grandma Tantrum Luvs/Leapster.
My day off started out as uneventful. The weather was sticky and my mood was plummeting. Brian came up with a cure. After GTL, he packed up Grouchi (Amalia), Maxy C (Maxwell) and The Agitation (Simon) for a trip the Jersey Shore. Since Seaside Heights…

First Year Homeschooling Lessons Learned
Rookie Homeschooling a first year Preschooler
Three Lessons learned by a rookie homeschool teacher! It took a full school year to figure out what works best for me & my daughter.
Thank God for summer! Little does my daughter know but I have put her on a summer break from planned homeschooling. I need time to regroup and apply the lessons I learned to a more productive and smooth second year preschool. (Of course yesterday she eagerly set everything up then came to…
