Feeling my Age
My baby half-sister got engaged yesterday. I remember her being born. I remember baking the cake for her 1st birthday party. I remember being disappointed we couldn't have her as a bridesmaid at our

Monday Morning Musings V.6

Before 'Tyn was born I couldn't smell much. Pretty lotions, decent perfumes, yummy food on the stove. Yeah basic smells. Then he came along and some how my nose was replaced with the dog catcher of all noses. I smell EVERYTHING! From sweat to laundry soap 3 rooms away to the oil on the floor in the garage.
It is never ending.…

Overexposure
A conversation Dr. T and I had recently sparked some serious thought. He worries that by blogging so much about my life, I run the risk of over-share territory and worries that L.E. will one day be bullied because of it.
Am I sharing too much of myself and my family with this blog? Will L.E. one day be the subject of ridicule once her friends find out that I willfully let the dog lick her…

ARMCHAIRS AND APRICOT DANISH
It's well documented that I love shopping. In fact I love shopping so much I will happily go out penniless to look for something I'm not particularly interested in for someone else.
I am often called on to go clothes shopping with my friends to offer fashion advice which is somewhat baffling as on the whole I dress in jeans and T-shirts or pyjamas- not exactly on trend, stylish or in any way original. I just have a bit of an eye for what styles and colours suit other…

Back away from Candy Crush
THIS post will either strike a chord deep into your guilty heart- or you will read it and ask what on earth is madmumof7 wittering about today?
I woke feeling a bit fed up today. An issue with DH's pay, an unresolved career issue, ongoing health problems, all left me feeling a bit blue.…

Excuse me......
It's Monday morning and although I'm lucky enough to be "working" from my bed in my pjs, I know an awful lot of you have to actually get dressed, comb your hair and venture out into the real world and interact with real people.
As I type I bet some of you are queuing for buses, coffees or taxis. And If you are …

what was I thinking?
I helped a friend move into her new home today. It was lots of fun shopping for the cottage, eating our first meal there together, helping her decide where to put lamps, bowls, books, candles....
It reminded me of the fun I had preparing to move into my first home after university.…

curry and lager in the 80s
DUE to the amount of medication I am taking at the moment for a variety of ailments, I feel permanently drunk. My head spins, I'm a little bit high, I feel a teeny bit sick. I'm probably talking a lot of nonsense most of the time but I guess my friends would say "what's new?"
I daren't actually have an alcoholic drink- all my meds tell me to avoid alcohol and that many red notices on the boxes can't be wrong.
I don't really miss it. On the whole I don't drink a lot. It's…

A Ham-Bag
My handbag obsession is legendary. I love bags large and small. But mostly large. You see I am one of those people who drags round everything except the kitchen sink "for fear".
I was never one of those people who could run out of the house with keys and loose change in my pocket anyway. I inherited my mums love of handbags and have carried one for as long as I can remember.
But when I started having children it became even more important to me to…

Inappropriate behaviour
I am a little bit prone to inappropriate behaviour. I'm especially good at not engaging my brain before opening my mouth. You'd think this would be embarrassing but I'm quite proud of my dubious habit of saying out loud what everyone else is thinking.
It started as when I was a very little girl. After my basic birds and bees talk from my mum I apparently pointed out a lady with a baby in her tummy on the bus. Of course the lady concerned was not actually…

Waiting, waiting...
I'm waiting in today for a company to come and pick up our old car which is being scrapped.
DH arranged it and then told me they would come to the house at some point between 8am and 4pm.
Of course since he doesn't do school run he didn't think to tell them I would have to leave the house at least twice during the day to deliver and pick up the children. And even if he did I expect they would have shrugged and said;"8-4 is the time slot - deal with it."…

bedroom secrets
You can tell a lot about someone from how they decorate their bedroom. Some people adore flowery themes, swags, draping fabrics, pastels. Some like stark clean lines. Black, red, chrome.
I know that if a psychiatrist was allowed into my bedroom they would not be able to put forward any theories at all for a while. They would probably be left struck dumb by the mess to be frank. Some people adorn…
