Winter Wonderland
Every New Year, thousands of people (if not more) make the resolution to get fit. They sign up for gym memberships, buy workout DVD’s, and order the latest and greatest gadget from a slick infomercial on TV. And usually about this time of year, several weeks in, a large majority of these same people let the…

5 Easy Ways to Simplify Your Life in 2013
The day after Christmas is when I noticed them. The posts were short and to the point: “What are your New Year’s Resolutions?” I avoided responding because I swore to myself that this year would be the year that I didn’t make any. Although I always started with great intentions, I can’t remember a year that I actually kept any resolutions that I made, so why set myself up for failure, right? …

New Year, New You! But, what about your closet?
Every new year, we make goals, promises, and/or resolutions to improve ourselves from the prior year. I wanna lose weight, travel more, read more books, spend less money, etc. The list goes on and on, but what about your fashion resolutions? Aside from maybe cutting back on frivolous spending, if that's your vice, what would you like to do differently this year, fashion wise? When is the last time, you upgraded your style? Do you have a style? Do you want a…

SMART Goals for 2013
Looking back at 2012, it’s hard to imagine that 365 days have just passed. So many days, so many activities, so fast the year went. The beginning of a new year, for some, is like a fresh start. It’s a time to reflect on the past year. It’s a time to look back at what you have accomplished (or not accomplished). It’s time to think about the next 365 days.
The word ‘resolution’ is often used at this time of year. According to Google, the definition of resolution means: a…

Spare me the empty promises…
Every year we end up here
spouting off empty promises
We will do better, we will be kinder
We promise to be wiser
Same old song
We go along
Making these empty promises
We pray for wealth, we pray for health
Yet our habits never change
We make lists and resolutions
Yet we only rearrange
The same habits
The same thoughts
Living on empty promises
I will not say much either way
If I won’t or if I…

2013, here we Goal!
Okay, okay, here it is, that time of year again to set New Year resolutions and….break New Year resolutions. Blah! I’m not doing it that way this year. First, I’m going to do away with the whole “resolution” thing and I’m…

Is lovely son right or mean..?
Apparently I am not funny enough.
Lovely Son thinks I focus too much on the serious side of life, contemplating my feelings, which are always miserable; he says this makes boring reading - no wonder I keep losing followers!
To him, I am like a Dementor with the internet. Or I’m like the friend who’s call you reject because you know they’re gonna moan on and on about how unlucky they are, while not listening to you, and then inviting themselves round to eat all…

In With The New
"I think in terms of the day's resolutions, not the year's" ~Henry Moore
Another new year is upon us. Have you made any resolutions? Did you keep the ones you made last year at this time?! I don’t normally make New Year’s resolutions. That’s why this quote from sculptor Henry…

** If a day ever went by where a kid HADN'T peed on a toilet seat here, I'd swear I was in the wrong house.
** I seriously could not be more unorganized.
** Everybody needs a mental health day. (Still waiting impatiently to cash in on mine....)
** Homework supervision is totally interfering with my tweeting and…

2012: Promises, promises, promises
Okay...I am often rubbish at this. It was off the back of this rubbishness that I promised I wouldn’t make resolutions this year. A friend has even reminded me of this.
And now I am breaking that promise.
You can see how this bodes well for the rest of the year.
Instead I am making useful resolutions: it is the fact that they are useful which means the promise-breaking-resolution-making is entirely justified.
Gone from my list are the, “I will…

Hello 2012!
I could not be more excited to get up and brush myself off after being so sick these last couple of weeks. I still hack occasionally but my energy is back and I'm operating at 98%. I am back at work (BOO) and my kids still have this week off. They are going to a little sleepover at their grandparents tonight and mama is getting a massage! The Christmas decor…

Recipe For Success
What’s up with all of the recipes? I was reading a blog yesterday about resolutions and it turned into a reason to share a recipe for a meat dish?
Hmmm, maybe the recipe for blogging success is to share a recipe? I’ve never been much for resolutions or recipes – but here’s my recipe for success in 2012.
Perhaps you’ll share it at your next recipe…

2011: My nemesis?
Christmas holidays 2011 were tough.
Tough enough to stop me from writing; not only were the three weeks plagued by missed flights, 800 mile drives, train journeys, broken boots, medical appointments, allergic reactions, poorly grandparents, missing absent friends and broken down kitchen appliances - this in reality is enough to push anyone over an edge into a depression worthy of a holiday suicide. Let’s face it: Christmas is tough enough without all your well-made plans…
