To say that this weekend was absolutely amazing would be an understatement. I can't even put together words to summarize how it was.
Naturally there are pictures to be shown and things to share so let's just start there.

I can't say thanks enough for the support that continues to come this way! I'm so excited that y'all are still on board and are loving the fitness turn that Running In Pearls is taking. Woo!

For the most part I have stayed Gluten Free since my fast in January. I've tried a few GF products and have compiled a list of my favorites (and two to stay away from!).
Fruits and veggies are the biggest part of my diet though. I'm still trying to find different recipes that work for me that are healthy but aren't time consuming to make. As a toddler mom, I need to use every minute…

After much consideration and lots of prayers, I've made the ultimate decision of not sharing my testimony on the blog due to privacy issues.
Matt and his family continue to read this blog. Which is why I haven't blogged like I use to. I shouldn't have to spend my time defending myself or my blog. I'm tired of the phone calls and messages about my life or what I decide to put out on the blog. If it doesn't involve Kinsley then there should be no reason to be nosey.…

I'm not an elite runner by any means.
I'm not nearly as qualified as others for any kind of big marathon.
I may not run every single day.
But I am a runner.
And my heart is in Boston today.

By now, you’ve probably been exposed to the plentiful mud race or sporting race phenomenon. It seems like wherever you turn, someone is crawling in mud, jumping hurdles, diving in ice or lifting buckets of sand. Don’t you want in on the fun?
The best way to wrap your head around these races is to eliminate fear. How do you say goodbye to the worries of getting dirty, suffering a bruise from running…Continue

Running with the jogging stroller is such a great way for me and my daughter to stay active and get out of the house. She loves being outdoors and I love to run. So when my husband bought me a B.O.B. stroller last year, I couldn't have been more thrilled to start using it. However, getting adjusted to running with a stroller can be a tough task, even for the seasoned runner. It took me a while before I adjusted to the additional resistance and weight of the…Continue

Many runners, especially those who run marathons and ultras, are natural born runners. Most of them ran track or cross country in high school or college. I supposed those individuals have known since a young age that they would always be a runner. I have known that I would always be an athlete, but I had never considered that I could become a runner. I look back on junior varsity basketball practice and can remember just how much I did not enjoy running those suicides. Softball did not…Continue

My husband and I just returned from taking the baby up to the mall for a little play time at the carousel and playground. We decided to stop at the food court for some lunch because our daughter kept saying she was hungry. (Her words are more like "yum yum mommy"). My hubby ordered himself and her a sandwich from subway and I…Continue

This weekend I completed the Gasparilla Distance Classic Mich Ultra Challenge. I must first start by saying that I will most likely never do a challenge like this again. I genuinely did not enjoy myself on this challenge. This style of racing is not my bag, but I am glad to have participated and I'm proud of myself for what I accomplished. Now that the weekend is over, I can relax, brag about my accomplishment and hang up my new racing bling (my finisher medals).…Continue

Mine - I was 5 years old and part of a junior primary that only covered Class 1, Class 2 and Std 1 (Grades 1-3). All the events were more fun than serious: 3 legged races, sack races, egg and spoon races and I vaguely remember a fathers and mothers race. I do remember us being grouped into houses and we all wore the corresponding colour shirts. I doubt this gets done in many other countries but its a wonderful way South African school engender…Continue

As another Sunday winds down, I begin to relax and reflect on my weekend. It's been fairly mundane, with the exception of my husband and daughter being sick. We had a little fun earlier in the weekend, but that very well might be the reason why they are still sick. Maybe I should have made them stay in bed. Friday night we had a softball game with our co-ed team, to which we ten-run-ruled our opponents. My husband, as sick as he was feeling, still managed to hit a grand slam out of the park.…Continue
