I was just reading this article on Babble.com the other day and remembered some of the things that I've heard in the past 2 years about being a working mom.…Continue

the next day, Monday, he says he will come over that night. When I call him after work and he says he will leave in a couple of hours to head toward my place. As the time passes, I text him to find out when he will be over....and he never arrives. The next day comes, and he says he misses me and wants to see me, so he is definitely coming over. He never does.
Every day, for the next week, he tells me he will come over, and as the days pass, I never see him. Even though we talk and…Continue

I walk to the front door, and before I open it, my last thought is to make sure I find out if he wants to have anything to do with the baby or not. Stop skipping around the issue; can I just have an answer already?
As I pull the door open, I stand there with no reaction. He takes a step inside and immediately hugs me. I, put my arms around him, feeling comfort once again. I pull away and go to the couch. We sit side by side, as he speaks the first words, "I've missed…Continue

This wonderful cyclical weather of Alberta - warm weather one day, and a freak blizzard the next results in wonderful ice, hidden by snow. I ventured out, assuming I was safe, that I was ready for it – but you are sadly a fool for underestimating the wrath of Mother Nature. I slipped, I fell to the left while I shattered my right ankle. Then, to top it off – there are the joys of being a single parent without support.
First off, no one was able to understand that I drove…Continue

It’s blessed Sunday evening, and work is around the corner. Wonderful, amazing work.
I don’t know how “stay at home moms” do it – I really don’t. From Friday evening to the end of Sunday - I am literally ready to pull out my hair and scream to the world. I’m tired, I’m worn out, and I’m looking so incredibly forward to the work week beginning – and that was said no sane parent ever. To be honest, while I feel that way - at the bottom of it all, I’m feeling like a really bad…Continue

On any given blog (mine included) or group chat you can find hearty discussions about what life with autism is and is not. There are a myriad of adjectives used to describe our daily experiences with autism: proud, unique, courageous, unpredictable, fearful, confusing, funny, joyous, normal, I could write a blog full of adjectives alone and they would all be fitting and true depending on what resonates with our individual journeys. But, what about sexy? Where does that fit on the descriptive…Continue

"Hurry up!" Every morning, late. Nothing new, but this particular morning we were exceptionally late. Only one week beyond a long winter break. The children are still in vacation mode. Or maybe that's just our…Continue

Before I married my husband, I was in this particular dilemma myself. I was raising two daughters on my own and was terrified of dating. I was never one to put myself out there and give men a chance. I was completely guarded and not up for the challenge of the “dance” (you know “what do you like to do?” and “what’s your favorite food?”) all that hoopla was draining to me. There was also the fact that meeting new people was not fun to me because I was very shy and…Continue
