For some reason I’ve developed a bizarre obsession with Klout. I’m concerned that Klout is just one more flipping social network that we all flock towards like a moth to a flame, only to fizzle or burn out on it …

Your blog is up and running. You have decided on an editorial calendar. You have been working hard to post at least three times a week and have been doing so for a month or two. Now is the time to get started on your promotional tour, which, by the way, never ends.
As I rolled out of the school parking lot this afternoon to head for home, I began looking forward to a quiet evening alone (after the girls were in bed, of course). Just me and my goofy mutt, curled up on the couch watching tv sounded like a good plan-- until I realized I had very little on the DVR to keep me…Continue
Unlike many of my medical school counterparts, I don't do much going out (i.e. partying, bar hoping, etc.). Being a mother and a medical school student does not afford me much extra time for shenanigans and what not. So when I do get to go out and do something, even if it's mild and I'm home by 10 pm, that's a pretty good night for me.
Tonight was one of those nights. The American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) chapter at my school put on a mixer and a faculty couple was so…Continue

Don’t use Daddy’s favorite necktie to clean spilled milk!
Stop throwing your food at the dog!
Noooo! Mommy’s lipstick is not a crayon!
That list on top? It could go on for miles.
If you have (or had) a toddler, I’m pretty sure you’ve spewed out tons of phrases that tell your kiddo what she can and can’t do.
Toddlers are natural explorers and at…Continue

Once upon a time in a life far, far away, there was this thing called a social life. A thing where you actually did things with other people, where responsibilities were forgotten and fun was had, where there were plans every weekend with friends. Yes, friends. You know what those are. If you have forgetten, look at Facebook, I"m sure you have a list of your closest 500.
Friends. That one word is used to describe the people we have been trying to surround ourselves with since the…Continue

It's a sensitive subject and one any parent prays they will never have to confront - what if someone tries to hurt my child? How do I protect and yet inform him or her about the reality that there is evil in this world? And worse yet, what if that sexual predator turns out to be a beloved teacher, coach or…Continue

Humph. That pretty much sums up what I say every time I look at my websites home page. You are probably not questioning why, since you must have accessed it if you are this far into my post. It is called indecisiveness and the desire to be able to do it myself. It sucks. I know that. If you have been following my blog at all, you know that the look of this website has…Continue

It is 6 A.M., I am still clutching my first cup coffee, barely conscious, and tremendously vulnerable, perhaps half-asleep. So I am choosing now to make a public confession.
I want to be a blogger, but I am afraid of html.
I shrink from it it the way other people run from spiders, as if it might suddenly writhe and clamber from my screen and onto my body, perhaps embedding itself under my skin like scabies.
